by Carlo Luz on This was my first time at Opera and I'm writing this while my irritation is fresh in mind. So, here it goes: $20 entry + $5 coat check = pregame with drinks at home and get there early ( good luck with that) Too much smoke (this is something I will actively avoid, obviously). I've been to plenty of clubs that allowed smoking, but I suppose the crowds and the fact that every third person was smoking cigs or trees made the amount of smoke seem so much worse. The guys here are cheesy and lame as hell... I shouldn't expect much, but my ass was groped like 5 times. I am also pretty sure I saw a few popped collars: Just....no. The music was okay. I mean 107.9 was there tonight so it was only top 40 rap songs. I think there's another level with different music but honestly I didn't care. No seats!!!! Oh...and those mist machines...everytime they went off, all the black girls had to duck for cover (they oughta know better). I was not impressed by this place at all. Well, except maybe the interior design. Bottom line, don't bother. These types of clubs are or should be played the hell out.
by Sammy Cargill on LTJ Bukem was incredible, so was the sound system, and time to time the vanguard has decent DJs performing. However those are the ONLY things good about this place. The bar is the biggest rip off in the entire world, and the security there is god dam joke -I peeked outside just to check if my friends were standing there so we can leave and then this super intense 5"x5" sized idiot bouncer slams the door extremley hard on my foot, I punched the door and this hero busts through some beaded decorations all dramaticly and slams me against the wall.. I can't speak on behalf of everyone but some of those guys take the job a -tad bit- to serious.. You're not guarding the president, you stand at a front door all day guy, calm the fuck down
by Ina A. on There was no clear-cut line to get in- just people standing waiting to be "chosen." Luckily, we made it in ahead of many other people and there was no cover. Perfect. It was overall a good time: there was a nice mix of very attractive people who in general left the typical cockiness of the Meatpacking district on the streets where that sort of thing belongs. Cocktails ran about $14 (average for the area) and bartenders were pretty attentive and good-looking. It was a great place to people watch and chat OR dance your heart out. Something for everyone in this lower level space. Music was good, too: upbeat, danceable, fun, suitable for most tastes. You'll probably meet some nice, attractive guys/girls here. It wasn't the most outstanding night of my life but so far it's the most enjoyable venue in the area!
