I went to funk and soul night and had a blast. It is a great little space with a lot of cool people running around. There is a big emphasis on the little part though. It is a very small club and when you make it to the bar, order 2 drinks, because getting back to the bar, is mayhem.

Trunks was packed last Friday night. They were doing some sort of giveaway and we walked into a raffle. Half naked gay men were everywhere trying to get drinks from the tiny bar, playing board games and causing general mayhem. At first, I thought it was a lot bigger but realized it's because there were mirrors everywhere. We left fairly quickly because it wasn't worth trying to battle to get a drink. Plus, while I realize gay men like to feel me up but here, they have no choice because you're just packed in like sardines. I cannot wait for Mickey's to reopen. Another three more months! Sigh.

I would've given them 5 stars if it weren't for the following... 1) Having to wait at the front of the restaurant for someone (anyone!) to seat my dinner party (or at least acknowledge our existence!) 2) Having to resort to hunting down a waitress to ask her if there is a hostess, and her response being "NO!" (delivered with the look and tone of "are you F'n kidding me!") 3) A table near the door! Nothing better than freezing cold wind blowing in every time someone enters or exits. How about a curtain or something!? Random question: What was with the private party in the back line-dancing? OK, so now even I'm wondering why I gave Rassela's 4 stars. It all comes down to two things. The food and the jazz. After devouring some finger-licking-good (apologizes to KFC), spicy tibs and wat, stir in a few glasses of vino, and I was back in my happy place. To relax we topped if off with a couple of groovy sets of Jazz. Luckily the night turned from suck to success. However, I must admit, I did like the old Rassela's (now Solstice) a little bit more.
