I went to Loca Luno a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed the salsa dancing and the drinks. The only bad thing about the Luna is the amount of people dancing. The dance floor is not big enough. I had a great time though...

"Transported by Trumpet" Just got back from Chris Botti's opening night. Mom and I will never forget this wonderful experience. I figured it would be the perfect x-mas present for her, and it was. A few months ago, I took her to see Botti at Davies Symphony Hall. Mom's a big fan, so naturally she enjoyed both. But after tonight, we both realized how special Yoshi's is when it comes to a live show. I've been to many different types of concerts and venues. Yoshi's takes the crown for up-close and personal. You truly get to know and appreciate the artist. There is nothing like it. While I'm trying hard to refrain from writing a review on Botti and his band's amazing performance, I'll instead describe how the show affected me. Being able to see Botti's fingerings, hear his notes and watch him get into it, did two things for me: 1) Inspired me to want to go home, dust off the trumpet from its decade-old hiatus and relive my jr. high days of jazz band. 2) Repossessed my right pointer, middle and ring fingers, reminded me how exhausted my lips would have been after hitting those high notes and even made me want to release the spit valve. (Back to present) All in all, if an artist you like plays at Yoshi's , make sure to check him or her out. You won't be just blown away, you'll be taken away. -NCM
