Café Circa seems like one of the more random places on Edgewood. Neither the logo nor storefront, much less the name, gives any indication that this space might be a food destination. If it weren't for the charming friendliness of the staff, our party of 4 might not have made it through the front door. The menu appeared to be mostly Southern favorites and American fusion. Despite my apprehension, I was completely surprised when we received our dishes--flatiron steak, crawfish etouffee. The food was well-executed and sophisticated, abounding with great flavors. Only one minor disappointment--I had heard great things about the peach cobbler so I got an order to go. I guess they normally heat it up but what I got in the Styrofoam container was cold cobbler, with a strange salty aftertaste, and undercooked dough. Not good. Overall, It felt strange to eat dinner in a nightclub/lounge and because of this, Café Circa will likely end up at the bottom of my list for dinner destinations. However, if you don't mind the club vibe, then the food is worth a visit.

I love this place!!  I had such a great time last night.  My friend's pole dancing troupe there performed last night and me and my friends came out to support.  I had never been here so I was curious about the place.  It was awesome!!  I love the industrial feel of the place.  The bands that played there were awesome.  My hats off to whoever is the booker.  The bartenders were cool and the drink prices were really reasonable. The bartenders make the drinks super strong, I was trashed after 3 drinks and I'm not a light weight.  I don't know what the cover is because we got in for free.  I will definitely be going back!!

I had a very nice experience here at the new Yoshi's. Of course it helps a bit to know someone in the band, but overall, service was very professional and friendly. The space is beautifully decorated and ambitiously vast. Quite a show in itself really. There are a few hints though that it's very new, like, just unwrapped new. The chairs (in the jazz/concert hall) aren't lived in yet, so they're not that comfy. The concert hall is twice as big as the Oakland location. Acoustics were pretty good. Food was yummy. I didn't have dinner, just a bunch of appetizers which is a great way to get a taste of everything. The banzai roll was buttery as was the Zuke Maguro (lightly marinated tuna). I also tried the robata combo and the caesar salad was perfectly coated with a light dressing and topped with pretty slices of lotus root. The passion fruit and blood orange sorbet cleansed the palate beautifully. Overall I believe it will be a good addition to SF. SF used to rival NY with it's jazz scene. Hopefully it will pick up and I hope our Oakland Yoshi's will also stay on the scene too.
