I can't express how deep my disappointment is in finding that the "San Francisco Saloon" doesn't have Fernet. It's pure insanity, if you go anywhere in San Francisco you can find Fernet, ANYWHERE. OK, maybe not schools or libraries but any place in SF that calls itself a bar/saloon definitely knows to represent. Seriously, when I lived downtown SF you couldn't stumble into a bar without having Fernet slid your way. Is it that hard to keep a bottle or two around? That's like an Irish bar not carrying Jameson. Speaking of Jameson, even though I stopped by this spot JUST for Fernet I said what the hell and took a shot of Jameson, strike number two when Mr Bartender asks for $8. Jesus christ try $4-$6 max, what is this the Ritz Carlton? Price gouge alert, Jameson ain't that expensive guys. Don't charge me posh Vegas nightclub prices on a shot of whiskey unless you're gonna act like a fancy nightclub, and FYI "fancy" places that can charge like that don't allow customers drawing diagrams of vaginas getting fisted on the wall of their bathroom. Just sayin'. I asked the bartender why the place was called SF Saloon anyway, nothing really screamed San Francisco to me and I lived there for 5 years. "Just a couple of brothers from San Francisco opened the place, that's why. Nothing else special." One thing SF about the place is the prices are steep, but that's about it.

Always enjoyed Yoshi's Oakland and this is a great venue as well. Nice menu and great service. Parking at the Fillmore Center was very reasonable so this makes it a great, low stress date night.

So came here on a Saturday night to meet a cpl friends - it was list only. we got in after the "list guy" made a stink about my bf's t-shirt. The list guy was wearing a zip up heather grey sweatshirt... uumm ok So we get inside and the place is packed and tiny. Mostly dudes and not the good kind - lol DJ was playing random top forty "hip-hop" and rock music from 5-10 years ago. We had a buzz goign from dinner so made the most of it and got our boogie on long enough to each have a cocktail, but then high-tailed it as soon as were were done. Thank goodness we didn't pay to get in there.
