by John H. on I'm new to Los Angeles, and I'm exploring the downtown neighborhoods. I think it's essential to find good places to eat, drink, and socialize. The Edison is all three! The decor is visually stimulating, the patrons and the waitstaff are friendly and well-heeled. The drinks are classic; the bartenders are more akin to the mixologist, than the beer and a shot servers. I had a kobe' beef slider and some fries, served at happy hour for $5, and it really hit the spot. This is a place you can hang out at whenever you feel the urge for a more upscale vibe, or a place you can bring out-of-towners, for a special starting point or for the end of the night.
by Davis F. on Let me just say that I have been to many night clubs in the city on different nights for different occasions. Icons seemed like a cool place to chill on a Tuesday night so a friend and I decided why not. We arrive there on time when they say they would open, only to be greeted by a man who had the personality of an ox, "yo man we ain't open yet ya heard?" okay, so we waited 35mins and finally they let us in. The man then approached me and asked if I was going to enter the wrong club because of how I was dressed(fedora nice coat)okay I said. The only redeemable quality that place had was the nice bartender and the bar itself I mean it is a really nice swanky area. The back has two very small dance floors several"VIP" sections. So we debated on whether to do VIP bottle service because well it looked great so we get a bottle and the man who is in charge just makes up the price of taxes and such, overpaid but okay. So we get to our section of "VIP" and were sitting there and yep you guessed it more people decided to join our section Uninvited.(I DID NOT REALIZED VIP SECTION WAS OPEN TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS TO SIT DOWN) we paid great money for that section only to be greeted by hooligans and wannabe thugs!!!..The clientele looked like they seriously walked out of a prostitution back alley. My fuss is more for the so-called "VIP"setup which isn't much since anyone who wants to sit down can just plop themselves can do that and such. This club is a huge let down and is really not for people who want class the cheap service and horrible hiphop from early 90's must killed my exp. I would not recommend this club to anyone who wants to have a good time. Please be sure to leave early, There was alot of commotion from wannabe thugs hashing it out for like the only 4 girsl in the joint. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to a better place!..DON'T GO HERE ESPECIALLY ON TUESDAY you will be disappointed BIG TIME
by Trenton Gallaspy on Common on Valentine's Day totally rocked! I've been to Mezzanine a few times and always have a pretty good time. The crowds are chill and I rarely have to wait long for a drink at the bar. The drinks can be on the pricey side, but they do serve them up nice and strong. Great sound system and an excellent venue for seeing some awesome bands up close and personal!
