by Jon T. on Came here to meet up with some friends after work and the place was very cool I'll admit, the decor was creative with the half art gallery/half bar thing going on, i could definitely appreciate that. Drinks were cheap (i think it might have been happy hour) I got three beers for 9 bucks + tip. not bad at all Would have been nicer with some music though (it might have had music but i really couldn't hear it) it's a nice place to chill after work with some friends, but they should really add some more chains or tables! it seemed so plain with just a huge open area
by Herta Roggero on Indulgent sparkling wine menu and plush seating make this a good place for a light meal or pre-dinner aperitif, if you are not in a hurry. The Bubble Lounge is just off the main drag of North Beach in San Francisco and stays open fairly late. Its specialty (as the name suggests) is sparkling wine (aka Champagne if it is from the Champagne region of France). There are over 250 sparkling wines offered by the bottle. There are even flights offered if you want to sample several at a time. If you're not in the mood for champagne, the Bubble Lounge's specialty martinis and cocktails claim to be some of the best San Francisco has to offer. It also has an extensive martini menu. A small-plates menu features oysters, caviar, strawberries and more champagne accompaniments. The menu features savory items like Filo Crusted Hearts of Palm and Hamachi Tartar Blini, classic champagne pairings of caviar and oysters and desserts like Dark Chocolate Mousse with White Chocolate Whipped Cream or Warm Apple and Walnut Napoleon with Caramel Ice Cream. White curtains drape the wooden entrance, while champagne-themed artwork decorate the interior's exposed-brick walls. The Krug, an intimate downstairs space with white-stucco walls and low ceilings, features a second bar, additional seating and a red-felt pool table. The plush red velvet chairs and sofas make it an ideal place to relax in the evening prior to a fancy meal elsewhere or as a "small plates" dinner. The dcor is best suited for romantic couples and party groups. I showed up on a Friday night around 6 pm and was informed that there was a $30 minimum to sit on one of the plush chairs. There was no minimum at the bar but the small bar was already filled. After perusing the menu, I realized that a $30 minimum would be easy to achieve so I was then seated at an intimate pair of velvet armchairs paired around a low table. The service was a little pretentious and slow. We ordered a bottle of modestly priced Segura sparkling wine. It was light and crisp, in a pretty bottle embellished with pewter designs. We sampled a half dozen oysters, which were very fresh and served with a light mignonette and cocktail sauce. Then, I tried the Frise Salad with Goat Cheese, Warm Bacon, and Sherry Vinaigrette. It was pretty tasty, but not horribly filling. Prior to approximately 10 pm, the Bubble Lounge is relatively quiet and filled with romantic couples and small groups. After that, the Bubble Lounge becomes a crowded playground for the young and beautiful. Also after 10 pm, I was over at the Stinking Rose getting a big plate of pasta because I needed something substantial, and less expensive, to soak up that bottle of sparkling wine.
by Kristen S. on Great atmosphere - the piano transforms you back at least 30 years. Terrible drink - the Manhattan was a joke. I couldn't subject myself to further torture after just one sip. Asked the waitress to take it away - she promptly brought my credit card back after I'd said I didn't want a replacement drink. Good service!
