This review is for a Friday night: Kress is wavering between 1 and 2 stars, but I bumped it up because at least the music was dance-able. This place was a hot mess. A three-story club is nothing to brag about when you have to climb up and down a dirty stairwell to get around. Not like the elevator was any better - dirty, old, and very slow. The overall layout inside each floor was okay - the bar was easily accessible and the DJs play different music, so at least you have some variety (though they repeated a lot of songs throughout the night, all radio top 40 hip-hop). Drinks are hella expensive and small. The rooftop was less than impressive. It looked nice, but the seats were all wet and it was pretty empty. They have hookah on the roof but even with that, it got pretty boring and we spent most of our time on the basement level (probably because we were too tired to walk up the stairs again). Some of the things I witnessed at Kress just crossed the line into completely tacky and trashy. Normally, I don't really pay much attention to the crowd at a club, but c'mon now people. Hot messes all over the place. It was just uncomfortable. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Kress, especially if you have to pay cover.

Not bad, but having read/heard so many great things, I must have set myself up for a let down. How this restaurant topped Philly Mag bewilders me.....AND it certainly brings Philly Mag's selection process into serious question. Pros: Great Service. Our service was not only attentive and amicable, but knew the specials and menu like the back of his hand. Props. Cons: 1) The few food items that were good were "hits," but most food our table ordered were simply "misses." The blandness of the food put my palate to sleep and the portion sizes made my stomach frown. 2) Ambience was sterile and drab. It likened to a spruced up cafeteria. 3) Expensive. Cost is unwarranted by the mediocre experience. With so many great dining options in Philly, its highly unlikely that I will be coming back.

I went here while shopping with my family at the new SF Shopping Center (the food court there was a bit crazy). It was kinda weird to sit under a disco ball in the middle of the day with the regular lights playing off of it. Oh yes, the food. My father and I got burgers (added carmelized onions), which were pretty good and they were willing to substitute my regular fries for sweet potato fries. My sister-in-law got their ravioli, which was also pretty good. My mom got their smoked chicken pizza and my bro got their italian pizza; neither one of these were good. So, if you go, get a burger or ravioli. *** UPDATE: went here the other night after a conference thing at the Marriot. I split a burger with my boyfriend -- it wasn't very good this time. We also split a mini-cheesecake -- it wasn't very good. Oh, we also split their coconut shrimp -- not good at all. My boyfriend and his boss got coffees after dinner. The coffee arrived cold. How does the waitress not notice that the coffee is cold?? And it was a Sunday night and they have karaoke. Who knew?
