Definitely one of the more pathetic party venues in the city. The place looks mediocre, neither upscale nor trash. Has a few tables for poppin bottles. But the fact that it needs to collaborate with Nick's Crispy Tacos to make enough room for the club is a bit shameful, and even so its still too small to boogie. Partying in a taco shop ain't exactly what I had in mind unless they got some hard horchatas flowing. I would hit up the polk bars a little bit further down the street and avoid Rouge's Crispy Tacos.

Study the contract before you sign! They don't tell you everything. They're pushy, like others have said, and want to seal a deal - don't go in just wanting to tour, they don't want you to leave until they get your credit card number! It was not made clear to me that when I was getting their "special promotion" that the key to getting this "great deal" was signing up for a 2 year contract. I called today because I am considering canceling, however they said it is impossible to cancel until you are past your contract-end date. This all makes perfect sense when you think about how these guys make money. They talk it up, answer the phone and ask how they can change your life, but if something doesn't work out for you for one reason or another, tough luck. You keep paying your "great price" until your contract is up - which for me is another year and a half. The Austin North location is fine as long as you avoid peak times. The trainers tend to be narrow minded in their workout options - never really trying much to venture outside the box of weight training. Don't ask for help if you're looking to personalize a cardio program. I prefer swimming to get my aerobic exercise, and the pool at the Tech Ridge location is acceptable.

Easily one of my very favorite music venues in the city; in fact, I've never seen a bad show here. What sets Bimbo's apart from the other similarly sized venues (The Independent, Slim's, Great American) is the unique layout of the club. It definitely has a smoky lounge-type feel to the surroundings, thanks to the excess of velvet and 30's-style art on the walls. There are tables in the rear of the club for those who want to relax while catching a band, and then there's the decently-sized floor space for the kids who come to get close to the band. So you can't complain that it doesn't cater to your picky ass!
