I went here for an afterwork event, so I can't really comment of the place as a nightclub, but I found the decor to be a bit strange and it actaully gave me a sense of uneasiness...can't describe but I just didn't like the way it was designed...like hippy/disco/rainforest (not a good combo). We had some organic wine and that was quite good and the palce was clean (which is the reason for the 3rd star ).

HA! Reading the review below about the guy who wasn't let in because he didn't have a collared shirt is hilarious-come on, Insomnia. How picky can you be when you're running a completely illegal establishment and could be raided by the cops at any moment? I would think that you'd be doing everything to get people inside the building and off the street asap. Other than that, this place is very intense. Its a little better than their previous location-that place was a horrible trainwreck. The only thing Insomnia is ok for is another drink when you're not ready to go home after the clubs kick you out at 1:35...which is usually a regrettable idea, let me tell you. Beware...unless you roll with peeps who have the hookup, you're going to be paying exorbitant prices to get inside the space that will be filled with lots of crazy people on drugs and DEEP house music. But, you will be able to get that additional drink you probably don't need, yes.

Definitely attracts a good-looking crowd compared to other SoMa destinations. I suspect it's due to some sort of face control, which I have mixed feelings about but have seemed to benefit from for one reason or another. I mean this isn't Vegas or LA after all! The space is quite small, but laid out quite well with a lofted lounge area/bar and dance floor with more seating on the main floor. Good balance of lounge and club in a dimly lit, red and black setting. Plenty of paintings of voluptuous women scattered throughout, but isn't that expected for a place with such a name? I've been here for both Happy Hour and after 10pm on a Saturday and both times I had a good time. The line is kind of a drag, but it's worth it in the end. It's not obnoxiously loud so you can choose to either dance the night away or talk to someone on a couch if you so desire. Plus that have a little outdoor smoking patio that bears a striking resemblance to a dungeon and is really amusing. Harlot is definitely unique and worth checking out.
