by Jane L. on This is my second time at the Prime Rib in Philly, and coming here for restaurant week on a BYO weekday this time was an amazing experience. First, the service was perfect - we brought three bottles of wine and were served each bottle in a new glass. The food was delicious. I loove the tomato soup here - it's homemade deliciousness you can't get enough of. The prime rib never disappoints, and the creme brulee was to drool for. The ambiance was great, too - I really love the lush 40's piano-bar decor and the live piano music. No matter where you sit in the room, its always the perfect noise level for conversation. I love this restaurant, the food, and the service. I'll definitely be back!
by Natasha Bishopp on Selam is a Habesha Cuisine restaurant with an interesting menu with an equal number of choices for vegetarians and carnivores. The food is ok, but could be a bit spicier (personal preference). The service left a lot to be desired. Our server was only on for two days and this was apparently their first food service job. It took over an hour for us to get our food. Fortunately the manager comped our meal. Since the place is new they are still getting to know their limits. If you go set aside a lot of time, especially if its busy. We might give it another try on a different day. It was extremely busy with lots of college kids from Emory so service might be different on a slower night.
by Timothy Menzella on My friend and I took a trip to FLIP (sorry about the rhyme) and were both pleasantly surprized - actually I was the only one surprized as she is a HUGE Richard Blais follower. We went on a Friday night and were told that because we did not have a reservation, we would have to dine at the bar; no big deal to us but the hostess could have been a tad more tactful... So girlfriend and I ordered; I had the philly, she had lamburger. We ordered french fries and sweet potato tots as our sides. When our plates were presented, my initial thought was, "Okay, where is the rest of my burger??" The portion size fooled me; I thought FLIP was being a little skimpy on the food but trust me - you'll be stuffed! I have to note that I am a medium-well-burger girl, so I was a little nervous when I saw the pink center. Being that I'm also a try-everything-once girl, I closed my eyes and took a big bite...and I SURVIVED!! To top off a fun night at FLIP, a server concocted two complimentary burt marshmellow chocolate milkshakes for me and my friend. The mikshakes are to die for - I highly recommend it! FLIP might be a regular stop for me....
