Oh how the mighty have fallen. This used to be the "it" club years ago. In the last couple years it has plummeted in downward spiral. The only plus for me was on a visit last year they played the Miley vs Biggie "Party in the USA/Party and Bull***t" right when it was just coming out. That made my night for a good 20 minutes of dancing and my sister and me screaming "I love this song!" and jumping on the the tables. Another plus was we always got escorted to cut the bathroom line.

I thought this place would be a lot cooler than it was. Went to check it out with one friend and I felt like a massive loser for even recommending we check it out after the first 2 minutes. It's very smart of the owner to charge for tickets to play the games because playing one game costs about $10! WTF. Go to Coney Island, drinks would also be cheaper especially since you can sneak a bottle of vodka in a backpack! I was expecting huge elaborate carnival type atmosphere with staff dressed as clowns, and freak-show musclemen or hot contortionists. We got nothing that night except one guy walking around awkwardly on stilts! The games here, though, are all the ones you would expect to see at a carnival when you were at the age when you wore braces. I also thought this place may find a gay following because we love carnivals, but no. Lots of university students. I do like the alcoholic sno-cones and the cotton candy, though I'm not a fan, was a nice touch. I would probably come back with a big private party, though, and get sloshed with friends celebrating someone's birthday. That could be fun.

I went to the Frying Pan with a group of about 15 people for my birthday last night and it was just perfect. I can't think of a better place on a summer night in New York. The vibe is very laid back and for a large group it is just perfect. Go early and the guys there will put together tables for you and your group either on the Frying Pan itself or on the barge (that has a little bit of coverage if it rains.) You can get big buckets of Corona and even when the kitchen closes they let you order in food. Loved it! Can't wait to go there during the afternoon with my dog and stay to watch the sunset!
