by Karen L. on I came here for the first time last night for reverse happy hour. It was definitely a nightlife kind of place. They have their own DJ, loud music, dim lights, and dark modern decor. You can sit at the bar or tables up front, and there are booths and more lounge-type areas in the back. FOOD: Their dumplings and sushi were pretty standard. The sushi wasn't beautifully prepared, but who notices after a few lychee martinis? The nigiri was surprisingly fresh, however. The super white tuna (escolar) and salmon nigiri are my favorite! Their Austin roll (it showed up as some other name on the bill) is a combination of fish roe, salmon, tuna, tomago, and avocado. Not one of their best special rolls; I'll have to try their others later. SERVICE: Extremely nice server! My boyfriend and I showed up late to join 4 other friends, but she was very accommodating. She forgot extra chopsticks, but other than that, she tried her best to keep our table happy. We stayed until closing time because of the fuss over the bill, but she was very patient with us. She was even ready to leave before us, but she held the door and wished us a good night! The food is nothing to rave about, but I think it's an awesome place to get drinks, sushi, and hang out with friends. I'm pretty excited to try this place out again sometime soon.
by Enrique Querio on Located next to the Cabana Club. It's a small, cozy, trendy place, with dark wooded floor, tied up curtains, and red painted walls covered with painted portraits of people from the 1900's or so. There's a couple of bars (one in each section of the lounge/restaurant), square dinning tables, and seating booths for bottle services but you can order food as well. Guarantee entry by reserving a table for dinner by calling 323-463-0008. There is a minimum order per person. Appetizers range btwn $10-20. Entrees range btwn $25-$40. Most popular items ordered are: The mac & cheese (very tasty & recommend it), Kobe burgers (comes w/ 3, $15, small & dry), and the pomme frites (3 different types of potatoe: sweet potatoe, regular, and purple). The main entress were not bad but not worth the price. The alcholic drinks range from $12-$15. The lemon drop ($14) was tasty. Service: very slow. Parking: valet ($15) or park at the Arclight parking lot.
by Rick P. on Martuni's doesn't need another great review, but I do : ) It's all true. Come here after work and get drunk if a gay piano bar is your scene. Nobody mentioned the Lesbian cut veggies and dip at happy hour. I felt like I was at a potluck. They used to have some pretty good wine, but last time I was disappointed. Wine in a bar is pretty catch or catch can, so I won't downgrade them for that. Besides, I've discovered that vodka makes me happier. Faster. Sorry Kristen S., I can't imagine anyone complaining about the cocktails -hiccup!-
