This place is not for everyone, but I can definitely see how some people can enjoy it. The lowdown: Cover - Varies on the night - Friday nights are free (according to a friend), Saturday (which is the night I went) - $20 (although me and a few of my girlfriends did not pay full price - got in for about $5 ea. - so if you're only girls definitely negotiate). Venue - The dance floor and club are massive for LA, but to me it definitely resembles a rave - all white walls, huge space and limited decor. It's not my scene, but if you're into that, you will definitely enjoy this place. Drinks - Strong and mid-priced for LA - two madras' (cranberry, OJ and vodka) for $20 is not too bad. Crowd - Mostly guys from what I remember, but a good mix of genders and ethnicity. Also the crowd was semi-attractive with mostly people in their mid-20s. Music - Hip hop mostly from what I remember and house music towards the end of the night (which is typical). Overall it was a good night - mostly due to the people I came with and not particularly the venue. The place is just mediocre for a LA club - I would give the place 2 1/2 stars and rounded up to be nice.

I'm not a big fan of clubs, but when Ms Shauna D. invited me out to The Kress on a night that was sponsored by Stoli how could I refuse. I had looked at the pictures of the place on-line and thought "Wow, great roof top! I'd really like to check this place out." Check it out: http://www.rateclubs.com/bi... Nice, huh! The only problem was we weren't allowed up there. Lame. The place inside was nice. They had big black chandeliers and nice round white couches. It was classy. Since the event was sponsored by Stoli, it's hard to comment on the drinks. Before I left to go to The Kress, I called and asked how much their valet was. The girl on the phone said it varies each night. Sometimes $10, sometimes $12, sometimes $20. Okay, 10 and 20 is a big difference. So I asked her, "Well, how about tonight?" She said she didn't know. I asked her if there was anyone who did and she replied, "You can just find out when you get here." Nice. *rolls eyes* I ended up parking in the lot across the street for only $8.

I've seen some amazing live shows here (including their "Peanut Butter and Jams" kids concert series...don't laugh...I may be a mom but I can still bust you up if I have to :) and last night I had the chance to dine here for the first time. I attended the "Wines of the French Mediterranean" dinner and goodness me - I'm still full the next day. It was seven courses of pure, unadulterated gluttony that included pairings of some spectacular wine with great dishes like grilled farm raised chicken breast, PEI mussels, a gorgeous cheese plate and, to wrap it all up, pears in puff pastry served with lavender creme. W.O.W. We were also treated to a lecture by wine expert Joseph Brandolo about each specific wine, where they came from and why they pair perfectly with each dish. So it was culinary edu-tainment at its best. Service was great and of course, it's gorgeous inside. They do wine/food pairings each month, so I'll be back for next month's BBQ dinner for sure. (Can you think of a cooler combination?)
