Come for the Open Bar... OPEN BAR all night for PYT lady events! Get there early and drink responsibly. Try not to be the DD (it would still be $20), but be sure to pick a down ass friend to pour your drunk ass back into bed safely! Key word - SAFELY. HOkay, so -- It's pretty schweet because open bar means OPEN BAR - top shelf and all. There is a bar in the front and in the huge back room (usually closed). The outside bar (downstairs) has a limited selection. VIP areas are tucked away so you can barely see where they are. The outside cabana is pretty nice, though! These spots are definitely worth it during HUGE events like Pride or Halloween, so get your finger on the pulse quickly during these events! Call me crazy, but I DON''T LIKE STAIRS in a place where sloshing libations and dueling cigarettes rush up and down. I'm just waiting for some drunk lesbian to topple over herself and down the stairs. Or over the landing -- whichever is more dramatic. That said, I would enjoy this place MUCH better: - with the back bar area open. - bigger dance floor. The front space is, well - just awkward and tiny. It leaves much to be desired. - when there are multiple bathrooms open. Preferably not the ones DOWNSTAIRS. C'mon - ladies nights require MULTIPLE restrooms open and a LOOSE mens room policy... I'm just saying. - it's not terribly packed - but when does that happen? As usual, come with your coven of witches, bitches and pimps ready to party. PYT FULLY supports integration, so bring your gay boys, too! You will most likely get your picture taken and get tagged on spacebook. It's like a weekly ritual. There is a good chance you will rub elbows (and other things, if you're lucky) with celesbians from The Real L Word. If you don't know who these ladies are, then study up! Cheers. EDIT: SO, a good friend has let me know that the TOP SHELF open bar generosity has died. plus they are charging for red bull. sorry to let everyone down.

My personal favorite venue in Philadelphia. I have yet to see a show here that didn't sound terrific, and the food downstairs is pretty good too. The best surprise with Johnny Brenda's is that it often plays host to artists who could easily fill a larger venue. But instead, we get to see them in a comfortable, "miniature theater" (I say that because of the wrap-around balcony). I wish more bands I like would play Johnny Brenda's when they come to town.

Always thought this place looked sketchy but not anymore! It's been redone and is now is a fun place to hang out. Cool atmosphere (love the blue walls!), good drinks, friendly bartenders. My girlfriends and I just popped in there for a drink after seeing a movie at Van Ness. It's super close to the theater. I highly recommend that combo - movie followed by a drink at Koko!
