by Tyler J. on Who gets away with charging a $7 cover with no special event on Friday nights!? The place smells like shit. Not ass, real shit. But there is a nice bathroom attendant and the dancers are fun to watch, sometimes. The music is decent but really a bar like this doesn't belong in the Castro... and it's too small for that big circular bar, in my opinion. I do like the people watching from the "smoking" lounge outside.
by nycicon L. on This place is pretty cool...no really much complaints, except that the DJ isn't always up to par with the music on some nights but other that that, I really don't have any disputes with Tropicana. Big enough places where you have enough dance room. They usually have some kind of events to draw you in. Drinks are average price, $8-$9 shots, $9-$12 for a drink. Hey, its better than paying $14-$16, I guess. Definitely attractive females here that come out on a regular basis. Only thing bad if anything that I would have to say is the commute being that I come from BK to come here sometimes...just means I need to get my ass a car already...lol. But very cool place to chill, party and mingle...
by Lolita Saal on We bought our tickets way in advance on line...but that did not keep us from having to wait in a inexplicable long line for for 30 minutes, but when you got up there and realized that there was only one person checkihg everyone in....that explains it. I was really wanting to see Lisa Shaw, but she didn't come out until really late and by that time I had lost my patience. The crowd is a bit collegiate and the drinks are of course expensive. There is a bitter taste in my mouth. Not sure if I will ever go back, if it is going to be the same collegiate type of crowd for future events. Frankly there is not much decor here, and it is not what I would call a very refined space. I even laughed when I saw a lady come in to the venue, in a beautiful bright yellow dress and heels...and my friend said to her as we were leaving and she was just arriving....honey...you are overdressed!!!!! Eventually, if nature took its course with her, she will see the puke in and around the leaky bathroom fixtures with buckets underneath them.
