A great chill place to grab a couple drinks with friends. I'd visited once before, but my last visit really impressed me. Our waitress Shamaya rocked! She was so attentive and nice and fun. I dig the music, and the drinks are yummy. I like my drinks sweet, and with a name like Sugar Cafe, they certainly deliver on the sugar! The food here is pretty decent too, the best being the french fries. My more inebriated companions decided to try the bread pudding; um, yeah, skip that. haha I've grown sweet on the Sugar Cafe!

Right now this is my favorite lounge. Of course this meets my criteria for greatness for a variety of reasons: 1) The bartender remembered my name when I came back for round two (and no, it's not Norm). 2) The historic qualities of the bar were a perfect touch. I did a walk through of the entire place when I first arrived only to find nooks and crannies filled with intimate seating and classic decor. 3) Old film reels dimly lighting the walls. 4) Burlesque dancers on the bar (these ladies definitely do sun salutations) - and this wasn't overdone either. The dances were shows and only performed during small portions of the night. 5) Absinthe fairy 6) Music: this was a great touch to the whole venue. Nothing too fast and nothing too slow - just a great sexy vibe to bring the whole evening together.

I know the men who produced the lighting, and the club shares a name with yours truly, so I had to visit it while in Miami. I do miss the old Fontainebleau, I'm not going to lie. It was a staple when I was a kid to come around that corner on Collins avenue and see the beautiful mural painted on their exterior structure. It's off the beaten path of the "club row" making it a destination as opposed to a pit stop, or appetizer on your menu for the evening. LIV was exactly what I expected. Posh, expensive, beautiful and loud. The atmosphere was a bit over-the-top for my taste, but I was spoiled in the 90's, when Miami nightclubs were at their hottest (in my mind). Don't bother with the table service, it's gouging at its finest! It's worth checking out, but I wouldn't make it a regular destination.
