Dear Bitchy Bouncers at Roe, Just because you're a bouncer doesn't mean you need to act like a prick and go on a massive power trip. K? K. Signed, An Annoyed Attendee My friends and I had gone in already and had stamps. Our friend wanted to go smoke, so we went outside. I asked one of the bouncers on the way out if we could just come back in after and they said yes. When we tried to get back in, the bouncer got mad at me for trying to "cut the line" and that we had to go wait in line again. FINALLY because some random guy was nice, he got us back in. Obnoxious. That aside, the The place itself is pretty fun. Music: good mix of hip hop and electro Drinks: kinda pricey, but that's expected Crowd: kinda skewed towards having more guys, but age wise mostly people in their 20s Venue/Ambiance: overall pretty swanky, plenty of room because there's two floors On the plus side, guest list is free, but make sure you get there early enough to get it.

I'd say it's between 3.5 and 4 but I'll round up. I thought it might be too gimmicky so I wasn't expecting much. Maybe because of that, the night ended up being pretty interesting. The lighting was good and the bar before the room with the beds had pretty balls hanging from the ceiling. The beds were comfortable, the entertainment was fine and the blue bunny was blue. We were there on a Sunday but I am guessing a Friday or Saturday night may have had more performances. The food was better than I expected. I inadvertently made a reservation during Dine About Town so we had 3 courses instead of 4. The first was a goat cheese fondue with asparagus, the second was escolar and the dessert was an ice cream with berries, whipped cream and this fantastic pecan caramel topping. The fish was perfectly cooked and delicious but I want more of the dessert. Now. It was a fun place to celebrate a birthday and panda seemed to like it so I can't complain.

I had high hopes for Pod. The decor is out of this world. Seriously. It was like walking into "2001: A Space Odyssey" or for you old school Disneyland fans, the Adventure Thru Inner Space. Yes, I totally just aged myself. Unfortunately, the super-cool interior was not matched by the food or the service. Our server was aloof and generally not interested in our dining experience. The food was mediocre, at best. We started with sushi, opting for a roll that they call "Double Impact." While it sounds truly bad-ass, it was nothing special. Sadly, this would be as good as the food got. For our main entree, we shared the sea bass and the wasabi-encrusted filet mignon. Blah, blah, blah. Cutting our losses, we skipped dessert and finished the meal with something we knew we could count on......drinks in the bar. The square foam chairs (you have to see them to understand) were a great place to enjoy the vibe and the unique decor of the restaurant. If the rating was based on decor and concept alone, I'd go 5-stars all the way. But, it is a restaurant, and the food just failed to live up to expectations. Thus, 3-stars is all I have to offer Pod.
