by Rosanne L. on Martuni's has been the talk amongst my friends and coworkers lately. I guess we're bit late finding this place since it's been around for year! My boyfriend and I got there around 8:30pm, early for anything to happen. There weren't any piano playing or a large crowd. Got nice seats right in front of the bar. We ordered a Juicy Melon and Ginger Lemon Drop. Both of them were sooo tasty! I think I enjoyed the Lemon Drop more than my own order of Juicy Melon. The melon had a nice sweet smell, but a bitter bland taste. I'm a super-taster and can taste ever drop of alcohol, but this was mixed superbly, I downed my drink like a fish. BAD IDEA. One drink was enough to allow me to feel my buzz. (But then again, I am lightweight.) I think two would have sent me over the top. Definitely coming back here next time to try the Cherry Blossom. Mmm, martinis never tasted so good.
by Mark S. on As a sushi chef I always look for a more traditional style of sushi and I was happy to find this gem of a place in Atlanta. It's in the Korean section of Atlanta in a strip mall and the majority of the staff was Japanese, except for the really cute blonde server. Not the easiest place to find, but well worth it if you're a true fan of traditional Japanese sushi. I think the quality of the fish was fairly high. The mackerel was tasty and prepared fresh. Very good quality of yellow fin sashimi. Octopus that wasn't over cooked. They had a good selection of sashimi and the presentation was interesting and fun. The master chef was friendly and comical. There were some items you don't see at many sushi bars, like jellyfish or herring roe, which is great for a change of pace. They also serve fresh wasabi, at a modest additional charge. Expertly prepared rice and the way the rolls are put together indicate that this restaurant has well trained traditional sushi chefs. The rice should never be overly compacted, over cooked or under cooked or improperly seasoned...this place was spot on on all accounts. BUT the true test of quality to me is not needing soy sauce. I barely even touched my soy. It's a great place to grab sushi, drink one of their many brands of sake, and have a very good dinner in Atlanta. You won't be disappointed...or at least I wasn't.
by Harold Schrecker on I got 86'd from the End Up because someone I was sitting next to lit up a bowl. guilt by association. motherfookers. the door guys are rude, the bouncers are rude, the bartenders are rude. but...it's fun to dance there and most of the patrons are fun...so I'll go once a year or so to cut a rug. I talked to one of the security guys, "hey look...I didn't do anything, I just want to go inside to get my coat." "if you weren't doing anything then why did you get kicked out?" him "I sat next to someone smoking a bowl." me "well maybe you should think about the company you keep." him dood. eff YOU. you work at the End Up...I think I accidentally bumped into 35 speed freaks on my way out the door.
