by Matt M. on Tuesday night was a special occasion for me. It was special enough to plan a dinner at what is becoming the culinary mecca of Atlanta. Woodfire Grill is the place, and Kevin Gillespie is the chef. Kevin was a finalist on this past year's Top Chef television show on the Bravo network. His food is American Contemporary made with local, sustainable, and organic ingredients. The setting is tastefully modern and contemporary, adorned with provocative art and enhanced with indie music. The wine list is pretty epic as well, also delivering on quality by-the-glass options. I had- Appetizer: Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Tartar. Charred baby onion. Citrus. Avocado relish. Roasted tomatillo. Smoked espelette cracker; Entree: Wood grilled Sonoma artisan duck breast. Early summer salad. Wood oven roasted squash and heirloom broccoli. Creamed leeks; Dessert: Cypress grove lamb chopper. Medjool dates. Raw almonds. Fried almonds---all amazing!
by Maud Beeching on So apparently they've remodeled the place to make it more upscale. I couldn't tell though...looked the same to me. But then again I couldn't see that much cause really all I saw was a whole bunch of skanky girls dressed in tiny little costumes. Why is it that girls feel the need to dress up like call girls for halloween?? Anyways, the music was good. It kept us dancing and even got my attention off of the out to get ass crowd. That is until a drunk chick tried to give me a kiss when Katy Perry's song "I kissed a girl" song came on. Ack!! It's one thing if it's a friend that wants to give me a kiss...but gurl...i don't know you! Bitches be trippin!
