by Shakita Vause on Webster Hall eats balls. I created an account on rateclubs just so I could tell you why. I'll preface this by saying I still go there and will probably continue to because of my love of music and the constant dollar entry promotions. However, I would probably NEVER go for more than a dollar. First of all, most of the bouncers are dicks, and will look for any excuse to rough you up. I've only been kicked out once, and it was because I was so outraged at not being allowed to reenter after a cigarette (which is usually allowed but strictly fenced in because they don't allow reentry). One friend of mine was strongarmed and not allowed in for having a tiny bag of weed that he forgot about. I'd understand confiscation, but he's turned away? I guess they don't want money that bad. Except THEY DO. Their policy towards drugs has gotten so strict, it's gotten to the point of outrageous. Another friend of mine was accused of being a drug dealer, slammed against a wall, searched, and then kicked out after they found nothing. This was after our other friend was turned over to the police and ARRESTED for having ONE ECSTACY PILL IN HIS POCKET. SERIOUSLY? You guys need money that bad? You can blow me for 20 bucks, how bout that? So with that being said, I encourage you to take advantage of dollar daze promotions, pregame your heart out, and take drugs (BEFORE you go in, or be careful about sneaking stuff in), so those scumbags don't get any more of your money than they deserve. They still get great acts, but the management and security are quite possibly the most shamefully greedy and egotistical in the business. Oh I almost forgot two stories from a few years ago: One is that we were promised free entry from their site from a promotion similar to dollar daze. I called the night before to make sure they'd admit me, because we were driving down to the city from school. They said yes they'd honor the passes, no problem. Of course they didn't. This contributed to my outrage from my previous story of being kicked out and I got beaten up by a bouncer, shirt torn n bloodied up. That same night, my friends who had actually purchased tickets in advance were turned away because they overbooked... talk about douchechills.
by Abbey Hindsman on Since this place reopened in the fall of 2009, I would have to say this club has one of the best sound systems in the city for the size of the venue. Everything is so crisp with Turbo Sound. The place is really top notch! I host a night here and everyone involved with the club is so nice and supportive. The pizzas are fresh and delicious and the beer selection is awesome. This is definitely my favorite spot in the city.
by alicia v. on Webster Hall is really a club that has something for everyone, often times on the same nights. It's multiple floors offer concerts, 80's nights and featured dj's. The only complaint that I have heard is the fact that smokers need to pay to acquire a bracelet that allows them to go outside and smoke. This seems a little ridiculous to me, as I can't imagine how it would cost the club money to allow people to go outside in a small roped off area. Other than that though, it is a fun place to spend a night out in the city and usually has a great atmosphere.
