Lets see. I went on a Saturday night. Bouncers: they were all VERY VERY nice (maybe it's cause i'm a girl? hmm. who knows). They talked to us like normal people and they were polite. So I had a couple of nice short conversations with them. One even asked us how we are enjoying ourselves. Bartenders/workers: nice. good tone of voice when addressing me and my group. Floorplan: I was only able to go to the basement and 3rd floor. You could take the elevator or walk. There wasn't as much people dancing on the 3rd floor; the basement was pretty packed. Decor: Decoration was alright. It was a bit plain since there was a lot of spaces. Nothing really popped out to me except maybe the chairs and chandelier. I have seen a lot better at other clubs. However, I like how there's so many sofas or places to sit. If you ever get tired, you'll definitely have a chance to rest your feet. Some of the tables were reserved, but one of the worker told us politely that it is reserved and she pointed us other areas to sit at. Crowd: I was a bit disappointed in the crowd...... mainly because I just turned 23. It seemed as if the majority of the crowd was in their late 20s and 30s. Maybe even 40s. Where are the younger people?! Ethnic wise, on this night, there were a large crowd of African Americans and Latino/Hispanic. Asians were kind of non-existent. I spotted a few... besides myself. Music: Basement was all about hip hop. 3rd floor was all about house music. I did not like the mixture of songs the DJ played (on both floor). They didn't really play any popular songs so I was kinda... bored..... Some of the hip hop songs were just so.. slow.ww..ww....... Overall: I like going for the music and the crowd. Combination didn't do it for me. I wouldn't go back. Overall, it was just ok. I think the only thing I really liked out of the experience were the workers/bouncers and lots of chairs/sofas.

Trudy's has potential but it has a couple fatal flaws. I'll start out with the good stuff.... -The Mexican and Cuban martinis were both really good with the Mexican inching out the Cuban by a hair. -There's lots of big flat screen TV's that they air games, extreme sports, etc. on (a good mix). -The waitresses (especially JIllian) are WELL FIT. Ok now the bad.... -This place is FUCKING NOISY. It's not the biggest place in the world and mother fuckers are seriously shouting at the top of their lungs when they get excited about something in the game, with their friends or for any number of reasons. -They cut you off if you have 2 of the Mexican or Cuban martinis. Granted that they give you a bar shaker almost full for each serving but I was only beginning to catch a buzz when I finished my second. What's weird is that you can order 12 beers, 209137863097876 shots or whatever else but once you've had two of their specialty martinis you're cut off. All in all Trudy's was a cool experience if I was to go back it would probably only to be to flirt with the waitress though.

Not bad for a sushi fix, but definitely not Japanese (not even close)--more asian-fusion. Cool decor (kind of like Morimoto-lite)--but that's all gimmick as far as I'm concerned. If you want a quick, reasonably-priced maki-hit, then head for the conveyor-belt sushi bar (note to earlybirds: the good stuff doesn't start coming around until 7 or 8pm). If you're looking for overpriced (but decent) asian-fusion dining, then get a table. Seems to attract a crowd that thinks it's trendier than it probably is. I suppose it's still the hippest place within walking distance of a Penn dorm room. For real sushi though, head to one of the Japanese restaurants in Center City. And for a truly memorable Japanese Stephen Starr experience, I'd say to go instead to Morimoto (home of the Iron Chef), where the food is amazing, and not all that much more expensive (depending on what you get).
