I LOVE this place. Sure, it gets obnoxiously crowded. And maybe drinking on a boat that's slightly swaying as it sits atop a river is not always a good combination. or the fact that it's necessary to cross the west side highway to enter/exit, leaving people with their life in their hands as they are inebriated. all that aside, frying pan is an awesome summer/outdoor drinking spot. It's laid back, with beautiful unobstructed views of the city. It's one of those places that makes New York New York - what other city can you find a boat from the 1920s salvaged from the bottom of a bay and resurrected into a dive bar? This place is a summertime must - leave work early and grab your friends before the happy hour rush, order a bucket of coronas, and enjoy some seafood grub. Oh and one thing - if the room starts swaying, its not the boat - it's you.

Cocomo's for salsa is great! The teachers are friendly, the people there come to learn just like you, and its just a good laid back time. There is nothing like live latin music and a big dance floor to work with. Since i've only gone to work on my moves, cant really speak as to how the women are. They seem receptive and nice but who really knows. The other times I've come here was for the First Friday parties. Now, for the feint of heart or the silver spoon babies, this is not the place for you. When it comes to hip hop, the more ghetto crowd has always set the trends and have the best music and parties. But you definetly have to know how to stay outta trouble. Be careful not to hit on some guys girlfriend lol. The hip hop music played is better than most clubs as they mix in alot of bay area rap and try to stay away from too much radio rap. This is NOT a place where you might hear House of Pain's "Jump" then mixed into "Living on a Prayer'....go to the Marina for that shit. The women there drink and dance and come to have a good time. And yes, most of them are easy to get a dance with and talk too. There is also a latin room with salsa/reggaeton. This is simply a place where people come to drink, dance, and have fun. There are fights, drugs, etc...so be warned. This is not a place where the music sucks, there is a small dance floor, and people just stand around and pretend to dance. Go to the mission for that.

Webster Hall is really a club that has something for everyone, often times on the same nights. It's multiple floors offer concerts, 80's nights and featured dj's. The only complaint that I have heard is the fact that smokers need to pay to acquire a bracelet that allows them to go outside and smoke. This seems a little ridiculous to me, as I can't imagine how it would cost the club money to allow people to go outside in a small roped off area. Other than that though, it is a fun place to spend a night out in the city and usually has a great atmosphere.
