wellllll me and my group got in for free, even though they were denying ppl telling them it was bottle service only, the nodded at us told us they knew we were on the list and let us in without question. that was the only plus i will say about this. The people at the door are the only nice ppl, they must have a pre-requisite of being a dou**e bag to get in. Some intelligent man who didn't realise he was in New York lit up a cigarette in the middle of the lounge and gave me a nice present I have for the rest of my life in my arm and didn't apologize. It's not worth it, unless it has done a 180 since I have been there.

Thursday nights! That's all I'm rating, because - I'll be honest - I've never been there on any other night. I just go for the Drum n' Bass. UNCE UNCE UNCE. They frequently have $1 shots (which are more like slightly liquored grapefruit juice or something), and all the best local DJ's. Can't speak for any other night of the week, but Thursdays are the bomb. Oh, and no cover!

The deal is: one performance / seating a night.  Fixed price, $60 for 5 courses including entertainment, a 3-4 hour proposition.  For more casual visitors a bar and a bedroom-lounge.  Most of the time you can drop in and plop down on a bed, on busy nights there's a line and a cover charge of $10 or $20.  Late nights there are one or two live DJs at a time, some well known, often very good.  House music.  Major dancing. A bare-chested man in a tutu wanders in and out from the show.  Attractive young men and women in fake fur dance countertop inside.  Everything is white, white, very white.   Or else black, or pink.  Stark, artistic, cinematic.  And beds, lots of beds.  Huge fluffy pillows.  Serious lighting here, too. Totally cool.  Edgy, experimental.  It looks like a cross between Ruby Skye, a small French art film, Burning Man, and Teatro Zanzini.   Needless to say, many people are on drugs. Drinks are at normal restaurant prices, which is low for a high concept night club.  $7-8 for a double-sized martini.  Veuve Clicquot  yellow label $75 a bottle. When it's not crowded the weirdness and attitude (somewhere between a put-on and a deliberately cultured vibe) is a hoot, and they're actually quite friendly and accommodating.  They are quite friendly, chatty. . . on an off night if you are nice to them. When it gets busy they are overwhelmed and react by being either blase or abusive.  But whatever may be wrong list/reservation/booking-wise it is not for lack of sincerity, effort, hospitality.  Just that nobody has any experience trying this in SF.  This is the kind of place you leave for dead and expect to be a fast food pizza joint inside of three months.  It's a wonder their popularity is enduring and growing.  If they keep it up, they could become a beloved quirky part of San Francisco along with Teatro Zanzini and Bach Blanket Babylon, plus in all the guide books and Good Morning America and airline flight magazines.  Even if it is a chain with outlets in Amsterdam, Rome, and other major party cities, we're the #2 location and I'm guessing our take on the concept is still uniquely San Francisco.
