Hollywood clubs aren't my usual thing. My "scene" would be a chill bar/ lounge where you can mingle with people and not be in fear that your journey to the bathroom results in getting drinks spill all over you to being groped by anonymous hands. A few out-of-towners friends decided on checking out the infamous hollywood area and heard of the opening of My Studio (formerly Mood). I reluctantly followed. It was a Friday night. It's Hollywood. SHIT. We arrived at the club and surely enough there was a massive crowd in front of the door. We didnt know where the line ended and started. There were about three lines, a left line (apparently if you have a table), a right line (general admission), and a middle line (???). There was a three bottle minimum table service if you wanted to get in right away or else your option is to wait on the other side or try to flirt and bullshit the bouncer in letting you in. All of sudden a man came out and started to scream if you are not getting a table then get out!! WOW. I mean I seen and experience hollywood snobbery but that was shocking to hear. (Mind you I simplified his language for the purpose of this review online but it was crass). Once we got in the place wasn't as packed as we thought it would be. Rest of the night I dont remember much. But there were hot women and men there and but the end of the night you can tell that people had their fair share of alcohol to deem it a fun worthy night. Service wasnt the greatest and its hard to mingle due to the loud music and drunk people spilling their drinks all over you. Overall, Its a great place to be seen and get pissed drunk, but the effort it takes to get through the door.... not worth it. Go to Dillions and get a pint... its cheaper and it will get your wasted faster into the night.

I really had low expectations for this place because I figured it was one of those trendy places where you paid to "be seen" rather than eat. I was pleasantly surprised that everything I had was pretty good. The hamachi tar-tar appetizer was outstanding. The quality of the fish was surprisingly good, and the ambiance was cool, though too dark for my taste. I felt like I should've been dancing rather than pigging out.

Boilermakers is a great looking bar; built from an old boilermaking business. The tap system is built into an old boiler. nice selection of beers, well stocked bar, good music playing on their jukebox. However, the two owners were at the end of the bar screaming and swearing at each other and I understand that is the norm. People were decidedly overserved; I realize that we go to a bar to drink, but as night went on, it was disgusting here. My husband and I left. We are new to the area and were looking for a good bar within walking distance to our condo. We will look further.
