This place is niiice. I was reading some of the reviews and I was like HUH? One girl from SF compared it to Suite 181 in SF. WHAAAAT?? OK, they're two ENTIRELY different clubs. That was just so hilarious, it had me rolling in laughter. I lived in the bay area for 7 years, SF for 3 of those years, and am an LA native. I've always gone back and forth and have tasted plenty of the nightlife of both and it's kind of night and day for me. So please, please there is no viable comparison between Marbella and Suite 181. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I'm going to say that this a pretty sweet spot.. it's right on Hollywood Blvd near the ever-popular and busy Hollywood and Highland intersection where tourists hustle and bustle. It's off a small street, and it looks like a Spanish Mansion. My experience in line was good, the promoters actually went through the line and checked everyone off. Girls got in free before 10:30 and guys paid $15. That was pretty cool, since we literally got into line at 10:24 PM. We worried that we would have to pay, but the promoters did a good job on that. Props to them. Upon being checked in, you walk up a huge staircase into a fabulous balcony area with a whole lot of tables, chairs, with cushions and all. A nice area to chill and get a breather. Then you walk into the club. Compared to the many clubs I've had the pleasure (or displeasure) of walking into, this was to me, one of the nicest. It wasn't crazy flashy, it was just sleek and classy. I don't know what people mean when they say they are looking for the "glitz and glamour". What does that mean, yo? This place is just nice, that's all I gotta say. It had the usual couches everywhere, but the seating extended towards a sweet deck patio (with windows.. it was still indoors). The layout worked well and the dance floor is pretty big. The music was just fine. Everyone's preference is different. I like hip hop and they played a good amount of it, from old school to recent hits on the radio. Occasionally the DJ descended into some trance, but he snapped out of it real quick and went back to hip hop. I liked that it wasn't terribly crowded and you definitely had room to dance. It was a Saturday night. The crowd definitely dressed to the nines, and I wouldn't call it a "ghetto" club by any means. Not much rowdiness, pushing or shoving, and I hope we keep it that way! I mean, I thought it was a pretty good lookin' crowd too. This is just all in comparison to multiple other places I've been. It seems a lot of people had issues with their credit cards, etc, but yeah I didn't have that experience since I didn't buy any drinks. But I did have a drink, which was pretty strong. Yum, Malibu Pineapple. Yes I know that's a girly drink..and it was good.

Biggest sausage fest ever, like a $60 minimum bar tab for credit card transactions, weak drinks, and bad ventilation. But... GIANT does get pretty awesome DJ's to perform... gotta give them that... but that's GIANT and not Vanguard.

Even though I liked their old homey venue better I'm giving Deep 5 stars cuz they bring out the best house d.j's. When I first stepped in a house club it was like magic. I felt that I was home. It was nothing like a meat market hip hop club or a trance/prog club where everyone is rollin' and spinning thier stupid glow sticks. Everyone was just having a good time dancing!! And lots of people were dancing by themselves. It was kinda strange to me at first until I realized that ppl were here for the music and the soulful beats. (Not to get their freak on...) The ppl were jumping, the music was pumpin and the vibe was just bangin! But answer one question, why does Miguel Migs suck in l.a.? I've seen him twice at deep and he blows compared to when he's spinning at Mighty in S.F. I swear he's a different D.J. Mighty is awesome btw.
