The main reason I am giving this hotel 4 stars is the location! You cannot go wrong with this part of town. It is central to everything and there are tons of amazing restaurants within one block in every direction. As for the hotel, it's a nice place. It's not a full service hotel. For instance there is no room service which is sometimes needed if you are on business travel but there are nearby places to eat. They usually have one person manning the desk so if that person is away you will need to wait. They don't have maid service if you are staying there multiple days. It has the feel of staying at a friends home, but a nice home at that. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are nice. They are definitely decorated in a more masculine tone than a feminine one (lots of brown). The room was a tad dark and a little loud b/c of the neighboring bars. The temperature was nice. The shower is small but has a great showerhead with strong water pressure. I am not so used to city living so it was a little bit of an adjustment to walk around with people hanging out on the streets. I was guaranteed that this area is super safe even though at times it felt a bit intimidating. Driving can be difficult b/c of the one way streets in this area. The hotel has an arrangement with a nearby parking lot for $15 per night with in/out privileges. If you turn on Locust Street, it's not the covered garage but the parking lot that says "Park" that is directly after the covered garage. It's not the lot directly across from the hotel (it's before you reach the hotel). This is important to know bc there are so many one way streets and if you miss it you will have to keep driving in circles and people dart in and out of the road so quickly, making for a dangerous drive at night, so it's best to figure this out the first time. Also do not let the stinky parking attendant park your car. He was in my car for 5 seconds flat and my car smelled for hours. Anyways, I would recommend this hotel. I had a nice stay and thoroughly enjoyed the area.

Aside from Ibiza, Spain..... #1 club central in the world..... you'll have to settle for second best in good ole' USA at Space, Miami. First off, the sound system is riDICKulous... so is every other dick with prada schmada sunglassses, sporting a Christian Audigier tee-shirt with an unoriginal tribal tatt---- oops, i meant guy. No, really, I meant that sincerely ... but you can take that as me hating if you want. Take it whichever direction, I really don't care. Sometimes the wait can be ridiculously long. I would recommend buying pre-sale tix and you'll be sure to get in fairly quickly, (unless you're there for WMC events, which you can count on at least a 45 minute wait with or without the pre-sale tix!) The bigger hardship is getting upstairs to the terrace. If you thought the outside line was long, you haven't seen the line to the terrace yet. It's about a 2K capacity (smaller than downstairs) and the best DJ's always spin on the terrace, which makes US want to BE where they are in the am and throughout the pm if you are a real soldier! DON'T ASK ANY QUESTIONS!! There is no time for thinking at that kind of hour. The crowd is partying as crazy as crazies can be. Diverse, quite the friendly pack and not really bothersome. The majority came to party, not to hit on girls. This isn't hip hop after all... STRICTLY HOUSE MUSIC. So if you're smart and crazy, be prepared to bring your sunglasses for the a.m. and rock it hard. :) definitely my favorite choice of venue in miami. i heart space!

Club Fais Do-Do is a cute, kitschy place. If you can find the door to get in. Marie A. and I went to watch Sound & Fury tonight. We walked back and forth a few times before one of the S&F guys found us on the sidewalk and led us in the unmarked door. Apparently, the "real" doors were shut for tonight's performance, hence the "Do not enter" sign. So thanks Vinny for getting us out of the rain! The place itself is kind of small, but seems well-kept. It's got a small bar and kitchen, with a rotating menu. And the bathroom is clean! 10 points to Club Fais Do-Do just for the clean bathroom. Marie A. ordered the curry chicken for dinner and it was spicy, yet yummy. It came with rice, a piece of perfectly moist and crusty french bread, some random green leaves and some random onions. It was a decent portion, so not too bad for $8. We also each got a heffeweizen, of course, which was $6. Also not too bad. Or maybe I'm still stuck on NY prices, since I haven't gotten out much since moving back to So Cal. The guy who owns the place, Steve, is apparently very supportive of the arts, so he lets groups like S&F perform there often. Just watch out for parking. We got lucky tonight because of the rain, but I have a feeling on a normal night parking is a bitch. I'd definitely go back, especially if I get to watch Sound & Fury again.
