by Lauren F. on It's tough to find a lunch place in the financial district where you can sit down and enjoy a nice meal, for a decent price. Lunch here was awesome, and totally affordable. I had the masala beef wrap, which rocked. They let me substitute the butternut squash soup for a the salad that goes with it, and the soup was seriously so so good- although the goat cheese wanton floating in the middle was a little tough to cut and eat. All this for only $10! I highly recommend this place for lunch.
by Forest Luc on Tao is an example of an idea becoming an institution. They jumped on this Asian Fusion bandwagon and their menu loses its identity. The execution suffers because the chefs are trying to pull off so many styles of cooking and watering down their seasoning for a mainstream American crowd. Certain aspects of the design and particularly the presentation of the food is quite lovely, but the nagging inauthenticity of the food and pretentious crowd that surrounds you offset the pleasant aesthetics. And of course everything from the dumplings to the sake are vastly overpriced. Maybe if you're trying to get laid by someone who usually doesn't go for Asian food it's worth a shot? Otherwise, there are better, hipper places to eat Eastern.
by Andrea K. on this place is great.... sometimes ppl try a little too hard to not be scenesters here, but hell...let them lie to themselves! haha! i tease, i tease... i actually love the wine list and the menu is great!! as a macaroni and cheese FANATIC, i definitely recommend you all try it here!! if ur a mac and cheese enthusiast like myself, trust me...u'll love it! the ambience is awesome as well....dimly lit and kinda sexy! great place for a date, scrumptious dinner, or drinks in the evening. xo- andrea
