by E T. on I get it. Cheap, filling, tasty food for $6. There's a welcoming yellow and blue painted door. The family is smiling and happy to serve up the home cooked meal. BUT, I would never bring anyone who is completely mainstream here. I would bring my always broke hipster cousins and friends who are looking for a great deal. It is a bit of a detour to get here. I had never come to Point Breeze before, but I had to check it out after most of the rateclubs reviews were 5 star reviews. I was very hungry, so anything would have been fine. Some of the dishes were a little greasy and heavy. The rice was a little wet. I cook often and it is hard to make the perfect rice. I know, I know, it was $6. But, if you make rice everyday, it is your job to make it right. It could be an Indonesian style way of making rice. Very authentic and nice to have options under ten dollars if you want to have an adventure. Not sure if I will be back. Hubby wants to add that this beats bad suburban strip mall chain food any day.

The owner (Kat) makes you feel like your part of the family as soon as you walk in. If you looking for a good place to chill out instead of sitting in traffic Kat's is the place to go, you'll love it!
by Velia Hoines on Ugh! I've been here a couple of times, sad to say. The crowd is corny, and so is the DJ, or playlist, or whatever they have. I have blocked this place from my memory, so it's hard to remember for the moment. The drinks are weak, whatever I had to pay at the door was too much...Oh, and if u like hip-hop/reggae, avoid this spot. I think it operates under the false pretense of being a hip-hop spot, but it ended up being a bachata/reggaeton fest :(
