This is one of the best jazz clubs in NYC if what you're looking for is an upscale sort of experience with big international headliners performing on stage. The prices are high, yes, but I'll support live jazz in any way I can. If the expensive drinks were poorly made, I would complain. But besides people griping about the prices, the overall experience is great. This is a good once-in-a-while jazz club experience, but I also enjoy seeing local acts and smaller name artists at other venues.

I had a very tasty lunch at Rosa Mexicano the other day. I know high end Mexican food is hard for a lot of people, but the quality truly was there, IMO. I had the tacos al asador and it had soo much flavor. My husband had the chicken enchiladas and they were so huge, he did not even eat them all and that is saying a lot! They don't do the traditional chips and salsa, but our waiter brought us some chips with a thick red and green sauce. The red sauce was pretty hot, but again had great flavor. Rosa's might not be for everyone, but the Sunday we were there, the place was pretty busy.

so how does a kid visiting los angeles who might want to dance a bit but doesn't want to wait in line for hours get into a place like avalon, you know people obviously. since my brother was friends with someone there (heck if i know who, i just follow his lead and pretend i know what i'm doing) we bypassed the line and went straight into the vip line. it was a pretty cool place with several side rooms and dancing going on there and your typical scene. i actually don't know if i would wait hours to go here, but it wasn't the worst place i've ever been to. i'd say go if you want to see your favorite band or just want another place to check out.
