Finally a place to just get a beer and some good food that is not so pretentious and pricey! This place is geared for locals or people that know their way around as the entrance is actually in an ally. Lots of TVs for all the games, a few pool tables and a live sports trivia contest on Wednesday's, (that I could do without). A limited menu of sandwiches and free peanuts. Finally a place in Pasadena that is more substance than style. Reminds me of the Winking Lizard in Bedford Hts. back in the day.

I've only been here once but immediately I was welcomed in and served. I'm diggin' the atmosphere; it feels like a really cool neighborhood bar. Even as busy as they are on a Friday night I still got a lot of attention from the bartenders. They really know their shit. Jimi was very cool and relaxed and made great drinks.

The music of Harlot, at least on the night that I went, reminds me of both Holy Cow in SOMA and Beauty Bar in the Mission. It started out wonderfully with recent Hip Hop and Top 40 hits, but then took an odd turn when the DJ started beltin' out Journey, Guns 'n Roses and Bon Jovi. I do love my 80's music, but I just wasn't feelin' it at the time. I enjoyed the chandeliers made of antlers. Very Abercrombie and Fitch. Which was fitting, because most of the people there were white. And older. My friend and I, having just entered our 20's, could feel the eyes of quite a few of the much-older men giving us a little look-see. Near the end of the night they went back to Hip Hop and redeemed themselves.
