This is extremely pleasant place to spend a summer afternoon, I've even fallen asleep on the deck and no one bothered me (and all my stuff was there when I woke up). The breeze from the Hudson makes the hot summer nights on the deck of the Frying Pan a dream. The vessel was dredged up after a 3 year stint at the bottom of Chesapeake Bay and drove herself up to the docks of Manhattan. The interior of the boat has been minimally restored and is a blast to run around! My friends and I usually pick up a couple "Buckets" ($35 for 6 bottles of beer on ice) on the barge and head to the upper deck of the Frying Pan. The whole music/DJ thing is not my scene but that all usually happens on the barge, not the boat (unless it's a private party). As everyone says the sunset from the Frying Pan are awesome! The Old Bay Garlic Fries ($3.69) are wonderful (You can find the rest of the menu on Grub Street's 7/9/08 entry). None of the other food looks appealing, especially the boring veggie burger ($9.22). Food is served until 10pm, and the bar closes at 1am. I always call ahead to make sure they are open (they are only open in the warm months) and that there is not a private party happening... and I probably shouldn't say this, but it is easy to BYOB....

It's true. The doorman is a total dick sometimes, but if you're a group of girls - he's really nice. Drinks are reasonably priced - at least for my standards. Bathrooms are sort of gross but if you're drunk, I'm sure they're fine. Crowd is mixed - older, younger, of all races. When it gets crowded, which it will, watch out! People can be so rude! Music is mixed up - hiphop one minute, rock the next, groovy jams after. Tables are large enough to accommodate large crowds. Dance floor also serves as the main walkway so be prepared to get pushed and shoved a little bit (or a lot, depending on night/time). After all that bs and still 4 stars? To me, it was all worth it... at least for now. When I come back, we'll see if the rating sticks.

Genki is a very trendy sushi - noodle place in Buckhead. Parking is not free ($5) and not easy. Just thought you all would like to know, as most places in Atlanta have free valet parking. If you have a reservation for 8:30 p.m., rest assured around 9:30 you will be sitting down to order and, then eating appetizers around 10pm and, if you're lucky you will be eating sushi by 11:00 p.m. Also, make sure to tell them you don't want to sit in the basement. There is basement seating - and it's really quite dark and unpleasant down there. Try to avoid being sat there. The noodle bowls are very large and good. The sushi is just ok. My one complaint is how long you have to wait (with reservations) to sit down and then how long it takes for the food to be prepared and brought to you. For that it gets knocked down a few stars.
