One of my fav hangouts and right outside my door. I go in there for a couple of slices of their NYC-style pizza and a beer or cider. Always cozy, companionable, good, friendly service. I've also had their salads and appetizers, which are above average. Very glad to have Slice in the neighborhood.

Friday Night Swing (9-12 every Friday) is one of my favorite places to go swing dancing (Lindy, East Coast, Balboa . . . whatever you like!) in San Francisco. It's fun and low-pressure, meaning even if you're just learning to dance, you're welcome. In fact, I think it's one of the best places to go when you're new to the scene because it has such a friendly ambience. Autumn LaVarta runs Friday Night Swing and teaches a great swing lesson during the hour before the dancing begins. He always makes an effort to dance with every follower who shows up, too. Any good dance venue has great music, and that's one of the main reasons I enjoy Friday Night Swing. Autumn plays a good mix of classic 30s and 40s swing, great songs from the 50s, even some contemporary music. The variety makes the dancing that much more fun. Friday Night Swing is affiliated with the Metronome Dance Center, which is right around the corner. There's easy street parking. Go and have fun!
