by Ting S. on If the toughest part of your day is making the trek out here through the Chelsea gallery neighborhood, then I guess the best way to recovery is by throwing back some drinks while taking in a waterfront view and cooling off in the "sea" breeze. Other tips to recovery: - Arrive before the crowd to get prime peanut gallery seats. - Don't let the giraffe (model) scenesters and accompanying modelizers deter you from indulging in some food - the fries are perfect! - Get over the price tag of the average drinks. You're paying for the view and the scene, not the drinks.
by Huey W. on Really upscale, expensive, and modern. I expected a strict door but that didn't happen. I barely even got ready to go out and wasn't expecting to go to a club but they let me in anyways. Prepare for a strip search. My lady examined a pen she found in my coat pocket for about 10 seconds because she said it might be a bomb. Lol. The music is house - which I do not like dancing to. But that wasn't a problem since no one really danced. Also the venue was relatively empty when I went (on a Saturday) night. Not sure what is up with that.
by Felicia Frutiger on Trying to avoid rush hour traffic on the grand central I would pass by the is place and be like what the f... is goin on over there. The place looks like a huge straw roofed hut with a freakin windmill next to it. This is all on a corner in the middle of residential queens right next to LaGuardia? I finally had the chance to find out that it is a Dominican club/restaurant. Great I like Dominican food so I went with my wife and another couple the other night. Upon walking in the front door all I could think is that this place would fit right in at Epcot Center. The owner finely duplicated a restaurant from the shores of Santo Domingo. I enjoyed the atmosphere, it makes you feel like your are somewhere else. We ordered chicken croquetas as an app along with my presidente. For the main I ordered some plate that had steak, eggs, sausage, avocado, rice and beans. My wife got fish wrapped in a banana leaf, my buddy got goat and his girl got lemon-grass chicken. I think i was expecting more because of the atmosphere but it was ok. My friend's goat was very tasty, I liked it better than mine. My wife's fish was ok as well but the veges that came it were still frozen. C'mon man frozen veges, that's wack. My buddy's girl also had still frozen veges with her chicken but one upped it as well. She got mashed potatoes on the side as well and they were definitely hungry jacks... straight from the box. So frozen veges and boxed mashed taters, kinda shady to me. I gave this place 2 stars for the food and 1 whole star for the atmosphere. Too bad the food didn't live up to hype of the place because if it did it would be a gem of a restaurant.
