I only come here for lunch with my boss/colleagues, so I don't know what it's like after work hours. BUT that being said, if you're in the area it's worth a visit. It's super old, creaky, and when you enter, it feels like you've been completely removed from NYC and placed into an old secret speakeasy. Strangely, if you read the story of this very special house on the back of the menu (and it has quite an interesting history), you'll find that at some point in time it was a speakeasy. Eccentric & very cool knick-knacks, random pictures, and ornaments scatter all over the walls and it does have a homey feel. The food is generally consistently good, and the prices are reasonable. Mostly bar-type food, but they have specials every day, though they seem to largely remain the same every time I've visited. My co-workers love their burger, but I particularly like their side roasted potatoes. The wait staff is superrr friendly and occasionally you'll get an waitress with an Irish accent. :) OH and when your right outside the front door, check out the line marking the Hudson River shore from back in the 1800s. Pretty amazing stuff.

What a concept, and what a way to "preserve" (some might fight me on this) the history of LA's first private power plant. Whether you're into history, steampunk, cleverly named food items (Edison Fries and Tesla Fries -- potatoes and sweet potatoes), or just straight up good booze, I think you'll enjoy the Edison. For reasons unspecified, I'll always associate this place with a bad time in my life. I'm also sure that since the novelty of this lounge/bar has worn off, people probably don't get into the historical roleplay or dress-up as much as they did when it first opened, although the dress code is notoriously strict. For good reason. It is, however, the place I discovered Old Rasputin, an excellent Russian imperial stout; the whole line of Chimay Belgian ale; Moscow mules; and 35-freakin'-cent martinis on Thursdays. Truly a unique setting. Don't expect a lot of dancing. It's more of a place to get together with some friends, have some good socially lubricated conversation, and be, or at least feel, classy.

I kind of like the fact that it is 4 floors with a little different atmosphere on each floor. Its a decent place to watch a game and there is a pretty good, mostly college, crowd packing the dance floor on Friday nights. The music was OK but a bit cheesy at times and way too loud for any sort of communication.
