A favorite place to go clubbing to Eurotrance, house and high-bpm music. For its layout, what with a large balcony and overhang, the sound sound system is really good. There's a large stage for performances, be it famous acts or amazing contortionist performers. There's large bars on both sides of the dance floor so a drink is never far away. Usually, it's a Gen-X and surburban crowd. Most of the time, there are the foreign tourist crowd (my guess is those who are used to this type of clubbing atmosphere back home). However, the middle-aged clubbers - while normal overseas - are kind of a buzz kill here. But overall, this club's decor and layout reminds me of the Asia clubbing scene, hence the rating.

My experience in Wonderland was nothing like Alice's. My friends and I came here for New Years Eve and what was promised was not delivered. Promises: Open Bar Full Dance Floor 3AM Closing 1. Yes there was open bar but we must've spent at least 45 minutes for a bartender to even notice us. And there were only 3 of them on New Year's Eve. Cmon, really? Even I know better. Because the bar was so inaccessible and filled with people, I opted to order a Long Island so that I wouldn't need to go back there again. And when I did get my Long Island, it tasted AWFUL. Open bar unfortunately sometimes equals cheap alcohol. 2. Where was the dance floor? There were only VIP tables. So my friends and I basically had to dance around the VIP tables awkwardly the whole night. The only thing that basically saved the dancing situation is that they have areas to dance up above a VIP booth, I suppose kind of like where Go-Go dancers would dance. Up above there we got to basically see the whole club and dance over them. That was fun. The music selection was basically hip-hop. That's cool by me. 3. And 3AM closing time was bogus. They kicked us out at around 1:45AM. Lame. And a message to the ladies. Be careful. Creepy Creepy dudes. Skip Wonderland, unless you're going to experience Alice's Wonderland.

My first visit to Blue Note was to see Tito Puente. It turned out to be one of his last performances, as he passed away a few months later. To see him that night, the energy this guy still had him, you'd never imagine it. It was that show that solidified this place as my #1 jazz spot in NYC. I've seen legends that I grew up listening to and emulating, I've seen fellow Berklee alumni, and some flat out unbelievable artists performing seriously out there music. The service is always very good. I've never had a single issue with the service in this place. The wait staff takes your order and delivers it promptly, and is always a pleasure to deal with. As with any jazz or comedy club, the place can be a little pricey to get in and they take on a two drink minimum to make things a little more difficult for you. However, it's such a classy joint that you end up eating and drinking there anyway. In addition to featuring premium jazz talent, they also have clinics with some awesome musician's and cheap 12:30am shows for those late Saturday nights. All in all, highly recommended. Check the next few months of their schedule to see who is coming through. You'll have to make a reservation for someone like Chick Corea or Michel Camilo fairly early to guarantee a spot, so don't wait.
