by Tiffany N. on I recently saw Matt and Kim at Mezzanine and I'm a huge fan of this venue now. For bands that inspire dancing, DJs, electronica, and all that jazz Mezzanine is awesome. The sound here is amazingly good (like feel it in your body good) and the dance floor is large. Meanwhile there is an upstairs area where you can rest your tired self if the sounds aren't moving you just right. Doors are in the side street, coat check is up front, bars are plentiful, bartenders are fast and pleasant, and drinks are fairly strong. Love, love, love it all!
by Alberto Ginyard on The Friday night lowdown - - TWO THUMBS & ONE TOE UP: Strawberry margaritas - good - PASS: Happy Hour appetizers - nachos with melted cheese and what tasted like chicken, although you couldn't tell, because it looked like a huge amoeba. I think they also had enchiladas, but the pan was empty when I was in line. - PASS: Ordered Arroz Con Pollo and should've stuck with the appetizers, because this dish was soooo SALTY. I think if I were drowning, I could've MacGyver'ed some floaties with this dish, and it would've raised my sodium-filled body up to the surface. In that rare instance, I'd call it a lifesaving masterpiece. The patio was nice, and the only thing that was annoying was the loud & obnoxious (those two adjectives always seem inseparable, no?) party of 8 women next to us. Don't know if it was a bachelorette party, or just co-workers, but they were either exceptionally drunk or just plain 10-decibel loud.
