by Elena V. on Great concept of separate lounge and club areas; the lounge is reminiscent of a magical garden with shades of green outdoor style furniture. The walls feature photo collages and there are trees in the middle. This will be amazing in summer when the rooftop opens. The club area is small; also featuring fantasy type decor but much darker with shades of black/purple and a metal go-go cage. The music is all house. Fantastic cocktail menu; all the drinks serve a function (anti-aging, clarifying, replenishing, etc). Also very creative shots with added beneficial ingredients. My favorites were the champagne drinks; Strawberry Glitter (fresh muddles strawberries, fruit liquor, and Moet) and Sparkling Pear with vodka and cactus. Mostly attractive Euro crowd, definitely in my top 5 of NYC clubs.
by Freddie Malpass on Did I have a good time at Bootie? Let me think that over... I was the designated sober person for the night. Which meant me babysitting my eight wonderful friends/lushes, all of whom were visiting from So Cal and looking to really party. That included: - Peeling a neck chewing guy off my drunk friend (repeatedly.) - Making multiple trips around the dance floor to find girls who wandered away from the group. - Stealthy switching cups of alcohol for water when someone CLEARLY had too much. - Pulling up the pants of a friend who was about to lose them and not notice. - Stepping in between a drunk friend and a very scary goth girl who wanted to pick a fight. - Stopping a friend from making out with any person who wandered by (including a not so cute drag queen.) - Oh and of course documenting all of this on film in case the aforementioned girls couldn't remember the next morning. In between all that, I did dance. So, did I have a good time? No... I had a GREAT time. I'm sure a lot of it was due to who I was with, but the music did help. Sure, sometimes the songs that were thrown in didn't make sense and the crowd stopped dancing for a moment or two. But I would say that 95% of the time I was loving the music. Non-pretentious, laid back fun. Bootie is a great party to hit up if you're just looking to dance, dance, dance. If you decide to bring some crazy drunk people with you, it can be even better. ;)
by MiKA D. on if there's something going on at king king's..best believe -- you have ample space to dance on. though i think the sound system could be better. you'll find alot of scenesters and the crowd can be 35 + up at times. once in awhile, you'll find a cypher marinating in the center of the room..dancers from SF, LA, SD, CHICAGO, and even NYC representing and uprockin'. lots of seating if your legs give up...
