by Jenna P. on I go for the music and decor, it feels upscale and sexy. They have great house music. And funky dancers. I've been here 3 times: Benny Benassi, WILL.I.AM, and last night... The thing I don't like is I was on the dance floor and these guys were doing coke out in the open like it was no big deal. I mentioned something to the bartender and he was like "so?" I mean at least go to the bathroom and pretend like you don't want other people to know you're doing it. I'd be an idiot if I pretended like it didn't happen, and I know drugs and house music are one in the same but not everyone does drugs........?
by Latasha Riddel on I was here for dinner first then the jazz show at 10. I've been to the Oaktown spot on numerous occasions and couldn't wait to try this place out. The restaurant is beautiful. Very nicely laid out and would be great for you and a large group of sushi loving friends. The blue tuna tataki appetizer was mouth-watering delicious even as I think about it now! Taste buds were delighted. Everything was fresh and high quality organic. There's also a sake bar upstairs where you can look down into the open kitchen. The jazz performance was hypnotic! Since this spot is newer than the Oaktown one, there is no history to the place. The venue is new and I'll be coming back depending on who's scheduled to play. It's just missing the fedora hat, warm sultry jazzy feel of the other spot.
by Serendipit Y. on I watched Bebel Gilberto here and I have to say this is THE BEST venue to watch a concert. Now I must admit, I haven't attended a lot of concerts, but Bimbo's has everything I'm looking for: - Intimate (good size) - Good crowd (I guess this depends on who you're watching) - Good sound - Woman attendant in the restroom was funny and charming - she's "Big Mama" that's what she said to call her :) - No problem collecting the will call tickets - Drink prices were reasonable and no line for drinks (even during admission)! YAY! TIP: get there early so you can grab a table. We were 1 1/2 hours late! But, that was okay. I wanted to stand and watch Bebel anyhow. Although I'm vertically challenged, I was easily able to see the fabulous Bebel. It was a wonderful night. I would definitely suggest going to a concert here. Great place to discover new talent or appreciate your favorite artists. It was a little funny seeing some of the fans totally out of rhythm or (worse!) not even moving to her music. Can you imagine?!? How can you go to a concert and not dance?!?
