I've been here twice and both times on a Tues... Very HOOD night... So packed u can't move. The girls in sections are forced up on the booths all along the wall like birds literally smashed up against other girls you don't know by order of the bouncers. The music is pretty good on these nights at least. But damn..

**A series of fast-as-I-can reviews** You know why I don't write reviews as often as I'd like to? Because it takes time. So here I am, on a plane, kinda tipsy and I'm going to write as many reviews as I can. Catch? I can't spend more then 2 minutes on each. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------- So here we go, in 120 seconds - XIV: Christmas Eve dinner at XIV and you wouldn't know it except for the pretty boy bartender wearing a santa cap. No reindeer martinis. No redesigned fruitcake desserts. Great. Also, no door - so watch out for that. Overall, it was good. Food was good. Ambiance was interesting (in a try too hard kinda way). I don't expect this place to be around for more than a year (as is the theme with this location) but that's fine, because I don't plan on revisiting. Not for any reason other than overly creative food is dime a dozen in LA and why waste time at repeat ventures at a place that wasn't necessarily sock knocking? It's pricey, but not obnoxiously so. I had the lamb chop for about $40. It was perfectly done and plated with an Indian/Mediterranean feel. It was a good follow up to the hamachi sashimi with "pickled strawberries". I didn't taste much of the pickling, bu my taste buds don't really get subtlety. Desserts were creative, the way the are at places like this. Popcorn ice cream and the such. The perfect entree portions left no room for this adventure, but next time XIV. Or not... 118... 119... done.

This is in regards to their staff and facilities for events: We had our wedding reception at the Glass Oaks Ballroom. Everything was set up well, and the staff was great. The event went well, and all of our guests seemed pleased with the service. The bartenders were great and remembered what everyone was drinking, which sped up the service. I would recommend anyone looking for a venue in North Austin to look into the Renaissance. They were easy to deal with and really did a good job that evening, which means a lot to us. Additionally, the food was exactly as it was during our taste-test there. All of our guests commented on how good the food was.
