by Chase Covitt on Tao is alot of fun and consistently good. Make a reservation or expect to wait in the hip lounge area. The brick walls, large Buddha and overall decor make this place amazing. Make sure you visit the restrooms. The service is usually great. The giant fortune cookie is a must have for dessert.
by D D. on Our initial night started with a exciting prospect of a group of young, successful friends, ranging from Art Gallerists, Publicists, and Producers. That being said we usually go to quite an array of NY's social spots- thinking that because we got table service for 12, we would surely have a good time. That was not the case. Upon arrival, immediately the bouncers criticized our friends shoe selection (this coming from a man to a woman, bouncers are NOT fashion stylists). And we waited forever, even though we were on the list and had a table reserved. Once inside there was NO ONE there. The green aspect of the club is true, but there was a weird locker room smell in the sub-floor of the place, perhaps ti came from the wall to call coverings of plastic leaves. Overall we did get quite drunk and kept to ourselves as most of the crowd was completely blitzed out on who-knows what and it did not get full until very late in the evening. Overall the service was rude, smelly, and while there are SO many other places to go that are much more interesting/fun, this place was just mediocre. Fail.
