I'm not a really clubber (if that's a word) but its a nice place. I haven't been here in years but now it's an even MORE older crowd (like 40's and 50' people). I'm not sure if you are into 70's music but I guess that their thing now for Saturdays which was OK, I guess. So that night I just chilled back and watched everyone -- lucky my friend had a VIP section. I believe VIP...you have to at least purchase $150 of liquor or something high like that. I probably won't go back unless I had to be supportive a friend. Also beer is $3.50 but bartender won't give you your charge back; there's a $5 cover charge for females and $10 for males.

Nuyorican is in a class all its own. The atmosphere is relaxing, the personalities of the hostess, poets and bartenders are warm , the patrons are friendly and you come out of the experiences a slightly more enlightened individual. It is a great place to spend a night. My only piece of advice is : make sure if you are going to attend the Friday night slam that you arrive early. I always try to get their by 9:15 to ensure that I have have a seat.

They aren't kidding about the "fast" bit...I'm pretty sure they know what I want before I do. I've frequented most of the Jimmy John's locations around town, but this one is closest to my house so there you go. It's quirky. Sometimes we are outnumbered by the staff, which is nice because it's not crowded with customers. Just crowded with...staff...um... Anyway! The music can be too loud, which it always is at all the locations. Which is kind of annoying. (Hey JJ people! Turn the noise down just a smidge!) But the sandwiches are wonderful. The ingredients aren't really all that special, but they're fresh and tasty and come in nicely proportioned amounts. And - I looooove their bread. I don't know why. (And this coming from someone who makes all their own bread so, y'know, take that for what you will.) I always buy some of their day old bread when I get a sandwich and have a wannabe sandwich at home the next day. It's never quite as good as what the JJ folks can do, but it's still damn tasty.
