by Lilly C. on All my friends and my sister seem to go to Busby's every weekend. Judging from the name, I thought it was one of those Dive Bars that I hate going to. I finally got a chance to go this past weekend and boy was I wrong. Can you say Asian Nation? I think 99% of the crowd was asian. My friends and I got there at 12:30am so we ended up having to pay $10 cover but I got free patron shots all night so I'm not complaining :) Busby's was generally small with 2 small dance floors. They played pretty good music-- mostly hip hop and some house. There is a small area where you can go to have a cigarette and they conveniently have a bar there too! The bartender seemed bored because no one seemed to notice the bar to the side.. She was like, "Come take some shots with me!" so we did :) I don't think I had an exceptionally good time but I didn't have a bad time either.. The best part? The hot dog stand outside.
by Kristine C. on I'm giving Yoshi's one star because despite the nice setting and the amazing artist we went to watch after dinner, our dinner bill debited an extra $81 from my checking account and has yet to be reimbursed. It's an inconvenience to me and has tarnished my experience with this place. I even spoke with the accounting person. I won't recommend it or give it a better rating until this issue has been solved, but either way you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. What I will say is that the food isn't all that great, just pricier. there was nothing exciting about it. You could hit Japantown and find something better for a better price. One of the dishes came out smelling extra fishy, which was completely unappetizing. Oh, and the waitress that served up the drinks inside the jazz club - rotten attitude. She was rude & came off irritated with LIFE. I'd suggest finding another place to dine if you plan on eating before a show at the jazz club.
by Sherie Dresbach on Okay, wow, this was a different experience! I had so much fun! ATMOSPHERE: I'm used to going out dancing and getting all dressed up, but this place it doesn't matter. I still got dressed up just because I felt like it, but I fit right in since the crowd was so diverse - I even saw my old physics professor from Ga Tech! Ha! Average age I'd say is mid to late 20's in this place. This is the place to go if you want to get your dance on and get a good workout. It's really dark in this place and heats up pretty quickly. However, this can be alleviated by certain spots where the AC blows directly on you. There are at least 2 that I know of. 2 sections/rooms - both huge. One was more hip-hop oriented with a break dancing dance off. Other room is more rock/techno. Place seemed kind of grunge...dirty. Definitely not a fancy place. COVER: None on Wednesday nights, which is MJQ night from what I'm told. HOWEVER, guys have to pay $5 if you are wearing sandals. CONCLUSION: I will be back! It was sooo much fun! NOTE: I've only been 1 night - Wednesday night.
