Visited Voyeur for the first time on behalf a Entertainment Weekly who presented Hedley and Fefe Dobson. This is a great venue for live music and highly suggest coming to watch artists present their latest music if the opportunity should arise. Bar spans an entire edge of the venue, there are couches that are organized in the middle area for what I would believe to be bottle service on a regular night bordering what would have been the dance floor turned mosh pit. The back area is arranged with booths and a general standing area as people accumulate drinks. I like this space and would imagine it to be a really fun place to knock back a few on a Saturday night. Super chill, decorated up, but not too serious. Go-ers beware: parking is extremely difficult. Lots of "No Parking" streets or "Permit only." The lot next door is limited and valet is $15/car - yikes! A solid 3.5 rating, I would definitely consider coming back for a night out with a co-ed group.

i don't care what others think, ruby skye has provided some of the best djs in the world with an exceptional venue. i think i would probably pick ruby over 1015 due to the second floor factor and actually being able to go upstairs (ruby does not exclude the cheap from the second floor). bouncers are pretty nice.. so far from what i've experienced. they do tell you to move away from the door when people chill outside, but they're not real dicks about it. and of course, walking around that area outside, you are bound to run into hobos asking for your money, but that's the beauty of San Francisco. creative homeless people. the venue is nearby union square so it's close to a lot of things and parking garages. do note, during 18+ events, they do not allow in and out privileges. so smokers, be warned. also some nights will be packed and cover will vary depending on who's spinning and how famous. i want to believe ruby is probably skilled with theme events. i went to the halloween, alice in wonderland theme event for ferry corsten in 2009 and was wowed by all the props.

So.Bad. I'll give it to you straight: we left a third of the way into the show we came for and the problem was totally the venue. I am really very forgiving when it comes to music venues. I like individual quirks and I am not fussy about sound. However, my boyfriend and I came here in July for the Bonobo show and it was truly horrible. Mighty is a reasonably hip & swanky looking place without being too pretentious. It's in a fine location, not terribly convenient but fine. The sound was not great and if I noticed, that's something. The overall experience was so bad I can't say enough about how bad it was. The show had been way overbooked. We counted and the place was way over capacity. We could.not.move. We got there early because we were so excited about the show. An hour beforehand before the place filled up, it was fine. The show started late (not unusual) and by the time Bonobo was on, we had already been jostled 27 million times by neck breathers and drunk party girls. Bonobo is a pretty mature group and this crowd was overwhelmingly young, drunk and obnoxious. But even if it had been a different kind of crowd, the place was too damn full. You literally could not focus for 30 seconds on the music without being shoved, stepped on or whacked in the face. Dude, I've been to crowded shows - it happens - no problem. This was something else. We eventually got so uncomfortable we retreated back to the bar, where we could not see at all or hear very well. Not any better. At all. If you can't even stand in the back, near the bar without being whacked and jostled, forget it. It was awful, we left. We love Bonobo, we were so disappointed. I would love to go to the October show, but we are never going back there again. I have literally never had a worse club experience. Major bummer.
