We went to S.O.B.'s on a Saturday night to celebrate a friends birthday. Ealier in the week when I was told we were going to a salsa dancing club, I was not very happy about it. Then after reading some reviews and seeing things like "no coat check", "very crowded", "hard to get a drink", I was even less excited. I will admit, that I threw a hissy fit about going. But I wanted to make my girlfriend happy, so I put on my big boy pants and headed to S.O.B.'s. enough of my sob story (no pun intended), now the actaul review... S.O.B.'s was nothing like I expected. It was NOT very crowded, and it was EASY to get a drink. There is plenty of room, and a few different areas, including seating for dining, a dance floor right in front of the stage, two bar areas, where you can chill at if you are in need of a break from dancing. They did have a $20 cover, but that was due to the live band, carnival style shows performed throughout the night. Drinks were on par with other bars in the area, and the DID have a coat check. They did play mostly latin music as expected, but was NOT a salsa dancing club that night. I would say it is definately worth checking out, I ended up being very happy I went. I had a great time seeing friends, enjoying some drinks, attempting to dance.

It makes me laugh that people are still going to Kress, years AFTER it was actually special, new, or cool to do so. I remember when the crowd was beautiful starving models, muscular gorgeous men and celebrities. I remember when people used to try to buy wristbands to get up top for like $500 bc they were desperate to be seen there. Nowadays it's hoodrat ghetto ville. I hope the venue made money back then bc now it looks like the Z list has moved on in to stay. I was invited to a bday and I went on a Saturday night, a Saturday night I kinda' wasted at Kress. We had a table and I noticed the following- a: the crowd that used to be beautiful in 2007 is now ugly ghetto hoodrat trainwrecks b: the bottle servers don't even want to be there anymore c: whoever "dj's" the roof clearly doesn't know what they're doing. d: vip just isn't very vip or special anymore. e: they're doing some serious specials on bottles just to get people through the door, so clearly the club knows they're going down. Skip this club unless you're one of those people who waits in line, pays for venues, or happens to frequent clubs years after they're cool.

Many evenings have been spent here when friends are performing. The sound system is worlds better than any other club I've been too and they do a good job of keeping the creeps and punks out. With a great full bar seemingly anywhere you turn, two levels, world class acts, good people working there, Ruby Skye is a much preferred place to see great DJ's when they come to town.
