I must say I was impressed with Fado. So many people have raved about it over the years, especially for St. Patrick's Day, that the raving kind of got on my nerves and I went in expecting not to like the place just because of this factor. They turned my negative impression into a positive one throughout the night with a few simple things! First of all, there was no cover charge and it was already 11:45. Sweet! I never have cash anyways. Now, I'm one of the few Atlantans that had never even visited the old location so I can't compare the new digs to the old. But this place is massive yet it has alot of little "nooks and crannies" that give it a small feel more in line with a dark Irish Pub. I've been told they kept the original look and feel of the bar, which is huge. I enjoyed the music--a mix of 80's rock, Techno, Irish jigs and Hip/Hop, but not so loud that you couldn't still carry on a conversation. I love the fact that this place does not try to be a club. I expected to feel out-of-place in my jeans and flip-flops, but this was totally not the case. Yeah, you have your preppies in there who hit up Fado before going to the clubs, but you also have a really laid-back casual crowd. Me and my 3 girlfriends actually found a table on a Friday night, another plus. We were promptly waited on, and props to our waitress for getting us food at 12:01 even though they technically close the kitchen at 12:00 (she could have just said "sorry guys, kitchen's closed"). Which brings me to my next point--the Cheese Dip and Boxty were out of this world. I had no earthly idea what boxty was--but it is fried, herb-flavored, doughy chips. So much more hearty and filling than just tortilla chips and cheese dip. Good job, Fado. I will be back!

I'd heard many great tales of people coming to this place and not wanting to leave. Jazz music, alligators, pasted peeping toms in the window of the girl's restrooms( and a cackling witch making fun of your hairdo). The food was great, the atmosphere was quite interesting, and the jazz music echoed throughout the restaurant ( if a little too loudly). I'd say you should probably go here once and then let your wallet recover for quite some time. While I've heard only good things about the desserts... they are extremelly stingy with them. I know, I know, it is hand-made and takes hours upon hours to create, but they have a limit of only one per night and you have to call it in waaayyyy ahead of time to even think about getting any. Also, they don't give you a choice on listening to the live music, they automatically charge you for it. I enjoyed the dining experience, but I won't be going back.
