by Benedict Millman on After working the guestlist at Marquee for a jewish singles night, my friend and me felt the night was young and we were still invincible. We got here at around 3:15, found a park right outside and proceeded in after paying our 20 cover and 4 for our coat (in retrospect we should have left it in the car) and the place was still pretty busy. The main floor has asians, lots of lounge chairs and quite a few people with bottles. To the back there are the stairs for the bathroom downstairs and a two level tiered VIP system. the glass barrier on the VIP levels basically meant if some poor girl was not paying attention some young guy probably got a upskirt glance. Downstairs is the bathroom which wasn't all that bad and another dancefloor with mostly blacks and latinos with a more hip-hop, rap scene. Drinks are the usual with top shelf being a little more expensive, two shots of black label was 15 each and two amstel came out to 9 each so the total came out to 50 something. Gratuity is included if you pay by credit card so don't double tip unless you have that cash to throw around. The bartenders were pretty fast though and our shots were more like a shot and a half so no complaints. Dance wise, it was alright although i struck out the entire night but it is what it is so i'll try be as unbias as i can and give this place 3 stars because it was just alright. It was also the night before christmas so that might have had something to do with it.
by Vicente Urben on Happy Hour Friday, not crowded, the remodeled place is nice. Buy one get one free drinks so I bought a malibu pineapple and a blueberry vodka tonic. Next thing I know I look down I have 4 drinks on my bill, what the! Oh well $16 for 4 drinks not too bad. I ended up drinking 3 out of 4 then going back for 2 more! Now I am wasted balls!
by Rick R. on In it's class, and in my hood, I give this place a solid 5 of 5 stars. used to be the old Levende lounge. Levende didn't hold a candle to this burning flame. I've been here 4 times now in 2 months. Why? The coffee crusted pork loin in jameson cream sauce. There is lots of other stuff that is good to be sure. Butternut squash and pumpkin seed risotto? A myriad of delicious appetizers, a very respectable wine list? Not to mention great jazz musicians most nights. The menu actually has changed 3 times since they opened and is very seasonal. But for certain, the number 1. The pork loin crusted in coffee grounds served atop a buttery crustini and dripping in jameson based cream sauce. There is something simply magical there. Good god, allegedly it came o the chef/owner in a dream. The staff rocks, the owner is a nice guy. I'd go here just as often, even if I didn't live across the street. Oh and it's VERY reasonable. Expect to pay sub $20 pp without booze for an decent size entree+ side. A lush 2 person dinner with a nice bottle of wine will still get you out under $100. GO GO GO GO GO - you wont be disappointed. And a round of fernet for the bartenders !!
