by Kayleigh Mate on Went to a late night party here recently. Amazing DJ. Amazing. Loud enough to make sure that you are dancing and not talking, but not painfully loud. Layout somehow encourages mixing. $16 for rum & diet - ouch! But I think that is considered a normal club price here. Highly recommended, with the caveat that I'm recommending this place based on just one visit.

by Matthew S. on I've been to the Yoshi's in Oakland for a jazz concert. This was my first time going to it's SF counterpart. Once inside the main doors, I felt like I had just entered a mall. Then I entered the restaurant area and noticed that there was ample seating area to the left, and a cool lounge to the right. I was meeting some friends upstairs for some cocktails, so I must admit that I did not have any food. Once upstairs, I enjoyed the plain furniture and roomy lounge area. The bar was tucked toward the back. The drinks were mixed pretty well (I ordered a gin gimlet served up). However, the place is pretty pricey (pretty close to $9/ drink). Since I didn't eat here, and I didn't catch a performance, I must rate it comparing it to other bar/lounges. In that respect, although nothing was particularly wrong with Yoshi's, it was a bit pricey for a hang out spot in what felt like a mall.
