by Marianela Halladay on The Green Door is a pretty nice venue (why has already been said better by others). The staff and bartenders are nice and friendly (by Hollywood standards, which are very low). The lighting and music are good, the seating is unique and comfy, the drinks strong and well-made, the outdoors area is as nice as the indoor area (a huge plus for smokers). The location is also great (across the street from a garage). That being said the downfall of Green Door each time I have been there has been the crowd. Basically, no Hollywood locals go here (or LA natives for that matter). The guys here are cruising, cruising hard and tend to be poorly dressed and the girls look and act like they are still freshmen in college. Not everyone is like that, I have seen and met some cool people here but it seems to be the exception not the rule. Also it can really be dead sometimes. I actually don't mind it when clubs are dead, I sometimes have more fun, but if I'm going to get bottles at some point I want it to pick up, and outside of Thursdays I have yet to find a real pattern as to when and why this place gets hopping. It seems pretty much to happen at random.
by Pete J. on It's like the bar equivalent of Disney World for middle-aged professional types here on business. Definitely amusing, & I'd even say it was fun for a little while. The guy checking IDs at the elevator (I guess I DO still look 12) wished me a Happy New Year on January 23rd, & explained that it was New Years for the entire month of January. Also, the bartenders were talkative & helpful. And the view is great. But that should go without saying. On the downside, it's expensive, cheesy, & [as previously stated] full of socially awkward middle aged business people. Still, I could see how it might be fun as a novelty on occasion.
