I've been here on Friday and Saturday nights, and I always have more fun on Fridays. That said, the beer is cheap, the cover is free, the music is decent and the crowd actually DANCES (vs. stands around the dance floor like an awkward middle school formal). Note that this is a SMALL place, so I think of it more as a local dancing bar vs. a destination hot-spot. Pros: $2 PBRs (for those of us on a tight budget yet still craving a drink for social reasons, free cups of water from a cooler near the downstairs bathroom (! YES), no cover, fun music ranging from 80s to hip hop, can accommodate a group of 8, diverse mix of people, secret bathrooms are located upstairs with little-to-no wait, large smoking room (if you're into that kinda thing) Cons: I've been here when there were really bad DJs that kinda killed the mood (note: I said "bad," not "bad ass" -- big diff), if you're not dancing you're going to be bored, can get hot (but not too hot-- it just means people are getting down!) Bottom line: If you're in the mood to dance, go forth and enjoy!

i officially love jb's for so many reasons.  short list includes: 1.  good selection of beers, including many local breweries -- they also change up the list from season to season, so you always have a good variety to choose from. 2.  excellent food -- i don't eat meat, so i recommend the eggplant or falafel with hummus if you are in a samich mood (both excellent).  the portions are also plentiful.  my boyfriend eats meat and has never been disappointed either...he really likes the 3 pepper salad and the burgers apparently hit the spot.  oh, and their desserts are soooooo good.  and the whiskey doughnuts on the brunch menu...i could go on and on. 3.  the prices -- really fair considering what you get in quality and quantity 4.  the service -- up until like a year ago, i would have said that the service sucked, but things have changed and everyone there is now not only attentive, but also really nice.  kudos to the management on that call. 5.  the decor -- pool table/bar area for the casual drinker, spacious dining area for the hungry hippo 6.  THIS IS A BIG ONE:  BEST PLACE TO SEE A SHOW -- the upstairs area has an additional balcony.  and they don't just get small names in there, though the ones i'd not heard before ended up being some of my favorites, too.  i've seen dean & britta, el perro del mar, the black angels, the ravonettes...to get to see some really excellent performers in such an intimate space is really fantastic.  get there early and you can get a seat or be right up front.  no pushing, no annoying hecklers or moshers, just great music for a really fair price (none of my tickets have cost me more than i think $15). jb's never fails to please!

Each time I head to One Midtown Kitchen for dinner, I'm excited before I ever reach the door.  I see the Lavender glow from the building as I drive in and I smell that wonderful wood burning oven as soon as I step out of the car.  Yeah, it's good. My newest discovery?  OMK recently started wine dinners.  Five to six courses each paired with a wine and, of course, you have the opportunity to learn all about those wines you taste.  They were creative with the courses from what I remember - not necessarily all things you would see on the regular menu.  It was fun!
